The J.Edgar Hoover Experience Music Disk One (Oh No there`s not MORE is there?) Hi, and welcome to the first disk of Musak from the JEDS. We are a group of dance-minded musicians (not coders) and artist (me, PFF). The J.Edgar Hoover Experience (yes I know it`s a silly name, but who cares?) is P.F.F., Wildfang, Chaos and Quarterback. This demo is guaranteed to have NO -scrolltexts (especially those wavy ones) -vectors (yawn) -revolving cubes (double yawn) or 3D GFX. Mainly a) because we don`t know how to do them, and b)The only good thing to do with these demos is to just rip the samples. (PFF tip no. 1- don`t buy sample disks, for the latest sounds just get some demos and rip all the samples out of memory with something like Hunter III) If you`re wondering how to stop the music, (PURRRLEASE!) you press BOTH mouse buttons to stop. To get rid of the JEDS Logo you press your left mousebutton (or it goes automatically). A Bit of info `bout the music... Relax (Loading Tune) by P.F.F. (meeeeee!!!) There`s nothing like self promotion, but here goes... `Relax` is a small (ish) tune that I put on the loading because (you guessed it), it`s a nice small (ish) tune! It stars Max Headroom and the AON gang on vocals, and it`s a nice, smallish tune (you`ve said that!). Nuff said! RaveEvil by P.F.F. (Fix! Fix!) This is created on MED (What else? Protracker 2 is good, but not THAT good), and uses samples from Time Bandits, Star Wars (very original!) and the siren`s nicked from the Prodigy. At the moment I am getting more into the Rave/Techno scene, even though it sometimes gets on my nerves. If you even think of the word `confusing`, I`ll erase all of your ROM chips, I will! Shallow Bay by Wildfang and Chaos This is their Cover version of New Order`s Blue Monday. When I say `cover version` I mean they haven`t just sampled the original, and created the original on computer. I can`t see the point of `conversions` anyway. I`ve shortened this slightly (!), as the original was meant for a tape version of them singing the original verse. You don`t know what you`re missing! Get the Rolls Royce by Chaos Yeah, I know what you`re thinking,`Not another Thunderbirds remix`. Well, seeing that only now Thunderbirds is being reshown, it`s still appropriate. The FAB one is getting quite tired now anyway. About the guyz. (No gals, sorry Equal Opps perps) PFF (me) Music/Artist/Disk Compiler (I`d better try and be objective here!) PFF is currently at Sheffield Poly (or should I say Sheffield Hallam University- er, no) to do BA Fine Art. He`s been Amiga Musicking (very grammatical!) since Autumn `90, and has owned an Amiga since April `90. His influences are Art of Noise (the older stuff), New Order, Kraftwerk (Ja gut!), Hitch-Hiker`s Guide to the Galaxy (used to be my bible), and recently 808 State, The Shamen, Nirvana, The Sugarcubes, and the KLF (I didn`t think they would be together long!). If someone asks me nicely I might tell you what `P.F.F.` stands for. Or maybe not. Wildfang Musician/Inlay Artist Extraordinaire He is the only one who hasn`t got an Amiga (stop hissing), but if you hear his music you`d realise he doesn`t need one. You wouldn`t believe what sounds he can create from an Amstrad CPC64, A RAM Music Machine, and a Casio Keyboard. It goes to show you that it is originality that counts. He is/was nutty about Blue Monday by New Order, and from aforesaid group he is trying to recuperate. His influences (as far as I can gather) are New Order (surprise,surprise!), Kraftwerk, KLF, Gary Clail, The Specials, `Charly` by the Prodigy, Cole Porter, Jazz, Gilbert and Sullivan(?), and 808 State, and a wide appreciation of music in general. He has just finished his `A` levels. Gizz`a Job! Chaos Musician/Tape Compilation Maker+Inlay Artist It seems like a Compilation every five seconds comes from this guy (he is a totally boring cunt :- Quarterback) at the moment. He has also finished his `A` levels and has a crappy job working in an office (what a loser). The reason why I stopped the music is because its a bit rude. Chicken breast is alright!! Oh, well, stop it Barry stop it!! He's typing ev'rything I say! Now back to normality...... we hope your viewing enjoyment has not been disrupted. Now a quick word from our sponsors. Not ....procreate?) with someone else, but on this disk is a rare but good piece of music done as a solo project! Keep it up, Baz!(?-Baz) I met these three through the College`s computer room, as they are all taking some form of Computer Studies. They unfortunately have to suffer the Nimbuses (Puke!Puke!) at College. Luckily I introduced them to the Amiga... Anyway, Chaos is influenced by (I think) the Pet Shop Boys, Abba, Kraftwerk, Amiga PD music/demos, 70`s Disco and Early 80s Synth-pop, and obviously doesn`t mind New Order, otherwise he would have been driven mad by Wildfang... Bin there... Quarterback Musician/Inlay Artist/Programmer type perp A less often seen member of the JEDS (well by me anyway). He is studying a degree in Computer Science at Hull University. His influences are various rave music tracks, AHA, & loads of rock music!!. He`s into MIDI and large (I mean LARGE) samples as he has 6 Mb of Memory on his A4000, and rock climbing in a manic way. Any A `n R people so they can give us a record deal (Even more unlikely!) Rogue Male- good musak on SAE! Amiga Freelancers (ProTracker 2)-you`re nearly there! But better MIDI was promised in PT 1. It`s the best Tracker to date though. What about a notator type thingy and easier edit controls for blocks and tracks. Then I would migrate to PT as you have more fx commands than MED. You didn`t say that PROP could use PPacked files either. Took me ages to work that one out! Teijo Kinunnen (is that right?). Good prog, MED, but the MIDI In on OctaMed crashes the computer if you play too fast. And can someone write a multitasking MED player? I tried MultiPlayer but it plays the files always at the same speed. (36/06). Nic Cusworth- your Amiga music is really good! Hope you sorted out the problem with MedPlayer, if not, try putting the tempo into the song with the F command. Worked for me with PROP (Protracker Player). The guy who did Editkeys- brilliant program! DiskMaster- great prog but in v3.0 the PlaySound ute is taken out! I only use v2 now. I find it`s more useful than PlayModule. Francois Nico (or Nico Francois) for PowerPacker and PowerPeak. Although, I could kill you for writing PPmore, which means every time on a Coverdisk I want to read the instructions (with something like DiskMaster), it comes up with gibberish. Aargh!! Tim Kemp for Pointer Animator. (Although I spent ages trying to work out that my frames were slightly too big!) VidiAmiga by Rombo- brill! I`ve know them since VidiZX! I am not going to Credit DPIII as this program, though I use it, is REALLY annoying. And what is so great about DPIV? It may be very useable but it`s not very original. I probably won`t be doing the next disk as the other guyz want a go of this power trip experience. Anyway this took ages to sort out. If you want to use the sounds, or see how we`ve done something, we don`t mind. As long as you don`t rip off whole songs and put your name to them. You`ll have one problem though if you want to load the songs directly. They`re PowerPacked files, so you`ll need to decrunch them first. Just use Powerpeak or PowerPacker. Also the modules are ProTracker 2 files (with CIA timing). You could use another `Tracker, but as others have the sh*t VBlank timing, it won`t come out correctly. The player on PT2 decrunches PowerPacked files so it won over MEDPlayer. So I converted them over. Thanks for listening to this disk. Hopefully Disk 2 will make it too! Byeeeee!
