If you use a hard disk, you may wish to install FractalPro on it.  Here are
a few tips.

THE EASY WAY TO SET UP FractalPro FOR HARD DISK USAGE IS TO SIMPLY USE THE
FProHDInstall script supplied in this directory.  To use it:
 
  FIRST READ IT!  (double click on the ReadFractalProHDInstall icon)

  MAKE SURE IT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, THEN 

  Just double click the FProHDInstall (picture-like) icon.


TO DO IT 'BY HAND':
  
A.  When you start FractalPro from it's WorkBench icon, it tries to load in a
    starting picture named FractalPro:pics/pic0.  That's no problem with the
    floppy since it is named FractalPro: and it has the 'pics' directory with
    pic0 in it.

    If you copy FractalPro to a hard disk, usually there won't be any 
    volume named FractalPro: at all, so the program runs you through the 
    file requester stuff before letting you carry on.  You can avoid that
    by following these steps: (which is what the FractalProHDInstall script
    does, step by step)

B.  If you want to copy FractalPro to a hard disk directory named, for
    example, dh0:Fractals, then you could do the following:

	Also copy the 'Pics' directory from the FractalPro disk to
	dh0:Fractals/pics (that is, make it a subdirectory in Fractals)
	and be sure to copy over all the actual picture and .XYW files
        from the 'pics' directory on the floppy to the dh0:Fractals/pics
        directory.

C.  Here's what the FProHDInstall script (which has an icon, too) does,
    step by step:


	(these two steps create a dh0:Fractals directory and drawer icon)

	    makedir dh0:Fractals
	    copy FractalPro:Pics.info dh0:Fractals.info	    

	(these two move over FractalPro and its icon)

	    copy FractalPro:FractalPro dh0:Fractals
	    copy FractalPro:FractalPro.info dh0:Fractals

	(these two move over FractalPro_OS overscan program and its icon)

	    copy FractalPro:FractalPro_OS dh0:Fractals
	    copy FractalPro:FractalPro_OS.info dh0:Fractals

	(these two create a dh0:Fractals/Pics subdirectory and drawer icon)

	    makedir dh0:Fractals/pics
	    copy FractalPro:Pics.info dh0:Fractals	    

	(this one copies all the pics and .XYW files into dh0:Fractals/pics)

	    copy FractalPro:pics dh0:Fractals/pics

	(this one assures your system that there is a FractalPro: assigned
	 directory even if you remove the floppy named FractalPro:.  The
	 program needs this to help find the Pics/Pic0 starting picture.)
	
	    Assign FractalPro: dh0:Fractals


    That bluffs the Amiga into thinking there's a FractalPro: out there
    even though you've actually put FractalPro and its icon and 'Pics'
    directory, etc. into a directory called dh0:Fractals.  That's what
    the ASSIGN command is really for, anyway.  It lets you give directories
    phony (or alternate) names.  Pretty handy for you in this case.

D.  It's a good idea to put that same Assign command line at the end of
    your startup sequence or else you'll have to do it by hand every time
    you reboot your Amiga and want to use FractalPro from the hard disk.

E.  Now your dh0:Fractals directory has all the tools you need to start
    FractalPro from the regular FractalPro icon or from the CLI.  The 
    ASSIGN command assures that the Amiga thinks there is a 'logical
    device' named FractalPro:  (that's always true when you use the FractalPro
    floppy disk since it is named FractalPro:).

    FractalPro is designed to respond to the 'f' option in the command line
    by loading in the designated picture file (which follows the 'f') and
    go into PAUSE mode.

F.  VOILA!  Easy hard disk usage!  Just do the ASSIGN and use the 
    FractalPro icon!
