                        HARDDRIVE INSTALLATION PROGRAM

This  directory  contains a utility to install the EdWord Professional  V6.0
system  onto  your  harddrive.   It uses the  standard  Commodore  Installer
program  and  so  provides a consistent and user-friendly interface  to  the
process.   The Installer will first of all ask you what level  of  user  you
consider yourself to be.  If you select "Novice",  then EdWord Pro  will  be
installed  onto your harddrive in the "DH0:EdWord/" directory and  you  will
not  be bothered with any messages or confirmations.  If you select "Expert"
then  you will have the ability to chose where to install EdWord to and  how
much  of  the system you wish to install (I would advise selecting  "Expert"
even if you're not one,  just so you can see what is happening).  That's all
there  is  too  it really.  The installer will give you relevant information
and adequate notice of all operations so just double-click and away you  go!
(Unless  of  course you don't have a harddrive :->).  The whole system  will
take up about 900K of disk space.

N.B.   You  should run the install script after you have  booted  from  your
harddrive (so that all the system directories point to the harddrive).  I.e.
if  you  have  booted  off of the EdWord floppies,  then  reboot  from  your
harddrive and then run the install script.

For  those  of you who are interested,  the installer will also  attempt  to
copy  the  following files to your system directories (if you have  versions
of these already, then they will not be overwritten).

While  we  are on the subject,  the EdWordHelp program also uses a  standard
Commodore  utility.   This is the "AmigaGuide"  hypertext  viewer.   I  have
included  a  copy  of  this program on this disk - it is  an  older  version
(V34.2)   so  that  it will work with WorkBench 2.0 as well.   If  you  have
WorkBench 3.0 you may wish to change the icon's "Default Tool"  to  use  the
MultiView program which is supplied with that release (in SYS:Utilities/).

One  comment  on  the on-line Help utility.  Once you have installed  EdWord
onto your harddrive,  if you try to access any of the Help menu items,  then
EdWord  will  still try to look on the "EdWordPro_2:" floppy  disk  for  the
EdWordHelp  files.   To remedy this,  simply go to the "Prefs/On-Line  Help"
menu  option and specify the full path to the Help directory in  the  drawer
where you installed EdWord.
