AMIGA PRINTER DRIVERS INSTALLATION DISK Please read the following instructions carefully and then follow the steps exactly as described within the INSTALLATION section. We STONGLY advise that you print this file, simply click on the PRINT FILE option below. Make sure that your printer is attached, has paper in it and is switched on/on-line. The installation procedure is in fact very simple, but assumes that you are at least familiar with the basic operation of the Amiga's WorkBench, and understand the terms Double-Clicking, Icon and Dragging Icons etc. If you are not familiar with these terms, or the basic operation of the Workbench then we would STRONGLY advise you to refer to your Amiga User's Manual BEFORE continuing with the Installation procedure. INSTALLATION 1. Switch OFF your Amiga and leave it switched OFF for about 10 seconds. Then insert the disk you wish to install the Printer Driver on to in to your internal drive and switch your Amiga back ON. This disk MUST be a disk that boots the system ( i.e Workbench, Deluxe Paint III, etc. ) 2. This disk will only install the printer driver on a disk that boots into the Workbench. If the disk you wish to install does not open a Workbench, then you will need to install the drivers via the CLI or SHELL. Information on how to do this is beyond the scope of this text, and we would suggest that you read the appropriate section of the User Manual. Alternatively, if you still have a problem, contact the Amiga Helpline on 081 302 8383. 3. Providing that your disk loads up the Workbench, and that you have waited for this to happen, then you need to insert the Amiga Printer Drivers Disk ( the disk that this text file is on ) into any drive ( you will have to swap with your boot disk if you only have one disk drive ). 4. Double-Click on the disk icon ( it looks like a printer ). A window will open up. Double-Click on the Install.Part1 icon. This will ask for your bootdisk to be re-inserted on a single drive system. This program will create icons on your boot disk. When the program has finished, you need to open your boot disk by double-clicking on it's icon. Look in this window for an icon that looks like a drawer and is named DEVS. Double-click on this icon and you should see another drawer named PRINTERS. 5. Now, double-click on the Printer_Drivers_Disk icon on the Amiga Printer Drivers Disk ( single drive owners may need to swap disks again ) and choose the printers driver that matches your printer. Move the mouse pointer over the chosen icon and click and hold down the left mouse button. Drag the mouse pointer and icon across the Workbench and place it over the PRINTERS drawer on your boot disk and release the left mouse button. The file will be copied across. If icons are hidden by windows or other icons, then use the dragging technique to move the windows or icons out of the way. Refer to your User Manual if you have difficulties. 6. Now double click on the Install.Part2 icon, which will finish the installation procedure. 7. The printer driver will now be on your boot disk, and you have to use the Preferences program to actually select it as your chosen printer. If you are unfamiliar with the operation of this program, then please refer to your Users Manual where it's use is fully documented. TROUBLESHOOTING 1. If you get a window explaining that your boot disk is full, then you will need to delete something from the boot disk in order to make room for the new printer driver. Please refer to your User Manual to find out more about deleting files. 2. The printer drivers supplied on this disk will work only with Workbench 1.3. If you still have version 1.2 of the Workbench, then we would strongly advise that you upgrade to version 1.3. This is available from your local Amiga dealer. If you have problems in locating a dealer that is local to you, then contact the Amiga Helpline on 081 302 8383. OTHER POINTS The list below details all printers that this drivers disk is designed to work with and the driver on this disk to use. It also lists what driver name to look for if you are using Workbench 1.2 or a program that doesn't use Preference drivers.
