Changes and Additions to CDStore 2.03: ===================================== New menu option =============== Load Backup: ----------- If you have saved a backup of your data file ("CD-RECORD"), the only way to recall the backup was renaming it from "CD-RECORD.BAK" to "CD-RECORD". Then running CDStore again for the backup to be loaded. This wasn't difficult to do, but now it's a lot easier. In the event that you've wiped out your original records or messed them up somehow, the "Load Backup" may save you some time. However, this is only effective if you've saved a backup on a regular basis (like once after each session). What "Load Backup" will do is call up a requester warning you that you are about to overwrite your original records. If you select "Yes", the backup will be loaded and re-saved over your original copy. Selecting "Cancel" will abort this process and nothing will happen. I am working on preference options for CDStore and "AutoSave Backup" will be one of them. Bug Fixes: --------- Deleting the ONLY record would lock up the program. This has been corrected and you may now delete as many empty records (???) as you wish . The problem was caused by CDStore updating the List window even with nothing there. This sent the program into an infinite loop, looking for something in the first entry (that was no longer there). Titles List window in the TRACKS screen. Clicking on a blank line in this List window sometimes caused a requester to pop up asking for a filename. This has been fixed. Fixed the Status box message after an unsuccessful search (Tracks Window). There was an overlap of messages. Some other transparent modifications. ====================================================== Addendum to CDStore Version 2.00: (With Tracks Option) ====================================================== The jump from 1.7 to 2.0 was because the versions between (1.8, 1.9...) were mostly dedicated to creating the "Tracks" feature. Some work, of course, went to other enhancements such as adding requesters, upgrading the user interface and tweaking the program here and there for a little more speed. I didn't think it wise to release 1.8 and 1.9 under these conditions. Anyway CDStore 2.0 is complete and I hope you enjoy using the program. Thank you for your support! Differences in V2.0: * Some of the buttons in the main window have changed. As before, they are toggle buttons but will now toggle a check-mark on and off to signify its state. * Displays a small credit window after CDStore is first loaded. * Clicking on the "Close" box in the upper left corner of the screen will call up a requester confirming your decision to quit CDStore. The "Quit" menu option OR Right-Amiga-Q will bypass the requester and quit CDStore. * A "Front/Back" gadget has been added in the upper right of the screen. * "Tracks" Button added to main screen for access to "Tracks" window. * You can now add tracks and ID numbers to your CDs via the "Tracks" screen and there is also an option to print these tracks. Installing V2.0: Simply replace your earlier version of CDStore with version 2.0. All other files can stay where they're at - "CD-RECORD" in your "SYS/s" directory and "DeckRunner" in your "C" directory. The new version will load your original records just as before. Working With V2.0: After loading CDStore, you will see a small credit window appear in the center of the screen. Click anywhere in this small window to make it go away. This credit window is the same window that will appear when you select the "About..." menu option. Everything functions pretty much the same in the main window. Some of the buttons have been changed to check-mark buttons. They act as a toggle. When ON, a check-mark will be displayed. When OFF, no check-mark will be displayed. In the upper right of the screen is a "Front/Back" gadget. Clicking this gadget will push CDStore to the back and allow you to access WorkBench or any other program you might have running. The List window now has a larger font (topaz 11 instead of 8) for easier selection. The Print/Page setup screen has remained the same since V1.7. Below the List window is a "Tracks" button. Clicking this button will take you to the "Tracks" screen. Using "Tracks": -------------- When first opened, the Titles List window (on the left) will display all CD titles currently entered in CDStore. On the right is the Tracks List window which displays all the individual tracks for a selected CD. This window will be blank the first time the "Tracks" screen is opened. The idea here is that if a CD title is selected in the Titles List window on the left, the tracks for that CD will be displayed in the Tracks List window on the right. If you were to click on a CD title that has no track entries, then the status box will display "No Tracks for that CD!". This simply means that you have not entered any track names or numbers for the selected CD. To enter some tracks for a CD, click on the CD title you wish work with. The CD you've selected should be highlighted. Ignore the Status box response since we haven't entered anything yet. At the bottom part of the screen, the field called "Track#" should have a cursor in position and ready for your input. All CDs have a number next to each song title. If you have the actual compact disk in hand, check the title number of the first track you wish to enter and type that number into this "Track#" field and press return. The cursor will now be placed in the field called "Song". Type in the song title and press return. Click on the "Save" button located at the button of the Titles List window. Your CD track entry will be stored safely on disk and will be there for any future editing, adding, printing etc. * If you wish to enter every song title and number on the entire CD, there is an option to ease the pain in entering all the numbers... "Auto Count" ------------ The "Auto Count" button below the Track and Song fields allows you to key in only the first track number of the CD. CDStore will automatically type in the next number in the "Track#" field and place the cursor into the "Song" field. All you have to enter is the song titles... For example: Make sure the "Auto Count" button is on and type in the number "1" in the "Track#" field and press return. Next, type the song title in "Song" field and press return. You will notice that the next number ("2") has been entered for you and the cursor is sitting in the "Song" field waiting for input. From here on, all you need to type is the song titles pressing return after each entry for the rest of the CD. (Default is OFF) "Auto Save" ----------- The "Auto Save" button (when ON) will perform a save after each entry is made. (This save done AFTER pressing return in the "Song" field.) When OFF, nothing will be saved until you click the "Save" button located under the Tracks List window. For Hard Drive users, the "Auto Save" option should be left on since saves are almost instantaneous. For floppy based systems, this option may slow you down a bit since floppy drives are nowhere near as fast as Hard Drives. However, you won't have the risk of forgetting to save after all your entries have been made. (The default is ON) "Auto Edit" ----------- The "Auto Edit" button (when ON) simply activates the Tracks List window so when an track item is clicked on - the number and song title are displayed in their respective fields for editing. For example: Lets say you had 10 tracks entered for a CD and you discovered that something is misspelled. If "Auto Edit" is ON, you could simply click on the track item in question and the track number will be displayed in the "Track#" field and the song title will be displayed in the "Song" field. You can now edit either the number or song title. After you've made the change, pressing return in the "Song" field will update the track entry. If "Auto Save" is on, you're done. Otherwise, click the "Save" button to update the file on disk. (Default is ON) OTHER BUTTONS: -------------- Edit - Under the Tracks List window. Click this button to turn on the EDIT mode, then click the track entry you wish to edit. The selected track number and song title will be displayed in their respective fields for editing. Delete - Under the Tracks List Window. Click on the track you wish to delete from the Tracks List window. Once it's highlighted, clicking on the "Delete" button will delete it from the record. UnDo - Under the Tracks List Window. Recalls the last deleted entry. Print - Upper right of the screen. Prints the currently selected CD Title, track numbers and song titles. Exit - Upper right of the screen. Brings you back to CDStore's Main window.
