Release Notes...

The following information is either not found in Final Copy's User Manual,
or mentions modifications that have been made to the original program. You
may want to load this file into FinalCopy and print it.

Version 1.2
===========

1. The default font has been changed from SoftSerif to SoftSans. This was
done to improve the readability of the default font on less expensive
monitors. The SoftSerif, SoftSerif_Italic and SoftSerif_Bold typefaces
have been removed from FinalCopy and replaced with SoftSans versions. A
new typeface, SoftSans_BoldItalic, has been added giving FinalCopy a
    total of 34 outline typefaces.

2. If you wish to use a serif font, we recommend that you use one of the
several serif fonts in the PSFonts drawer located on the FCExtras disk.
If you created documents in version 1.1 using the SoftSerif typefaces,
and you wish to keep your text in a serif font, you will need to select
the text, and change its typeface to the desired serif font.

3. The FCProgram disk is now a bootable 1.3 Workbench disk. If you have
a floppy based system with 2.0 ROMs, you should still be able to boot
with this 1.3 disk. BE SURE TO install a printer driver on the FCProgram
disk if you do not have a hard drive.

4. The Printer_Install program has been added to the FCProgram disk. If you
do not have a hard drive, use this program to install the appropriate
printer driver on the FCProgram disk. After you use the Printer_Install
program, you will need to access the Workbench Preferences on the
FCProgram disk and select the printer driver you installed. If you have
an Epson or HP compatible printer, these drivers are already on the
FCProgram disk, and need not be installed using Printer_Install. You will
still need to select the printer driver in Preferences, however.

5. Typing speed is now faster for multiple line paragraphs.

6. Text shown in the Thesaurus is now formatted more compactly.

7. If you find yourself running low on memory, operate FinalCopy on a
Workbench screen rather than a Custom screen. Also, close all Workbench
windows except the Final Copy window once Final Copy is running.

8. Faster typing on 68000 machines is possible by turning OFF hyphenation,
and creating paragraphs left justified. After a paragraph is created
you can always change its justification to something else.

9. It is now not possible to open a file as a font that Final Copy does not
recognize as a Final Copy outline font.

Version 1.1
===========

1. Do not be alarmed if the fonts on your screen look strange. Outline
fonts may not look as good as handtuned bitmapped screen fonts on screen
displays, but they look many, many times better on printouts.

2. The HD_Install utility on the FCProgram disk will install Final Copy
on a hard drive. You can use this utility instead of the instructions
in the User Manual for installing Final Copy on a hard drive. The
"Novice" mode of this utility will install Final Copy on the first
device on your computer with enough room for Final Copy and its files.
After you run this utility you will have to close the window where
FinalCopy was installed and then reopen the window in order to see the
FinalCopy drawer's icon. Please also read the HD_Install_Disclaimer and
HD_Install_Readme files on the FCProgram disk.

3. In addition to the DOCDRAWER=path tooltype that can be placed in
FinalCopy's program icon are the following tooltypes:

GFXDRAWER=path (Sets up a default Graphic drawer)
FONTDRAWER=path (Sets up a default Font drawer)

'path' is the full path name of the drawer.

4. Graphic Settings Requestor.

Save/Link option - Determines whether or not IFF graphics are saved
with a document. If graphics are saved with the document, when a
document is copied to another disk, the graphics stored inside the
the document are also copied. If only a link to a graphic is saved
with the document, the path name to where the graphic exists is saved.
When a linked graphic is modified, its modified version is loaded
the next time you open a document containing the graphic. Documents
with only links to graphics saved within it are smaller because the
actual graphic is not saved inside the document.

5. Outline fonts are on the FCProgram disk and also the FCExtras disk.

6. Two IFF brushes are on the FCProgram disk inside the FCClips drawer that
is inside the FinalCopy drawer. These pictures are copyrighted and not
in the public domain. You can, of course, use them in your documents.
