     **********        Welcome to PageStream 2.0!    ***********

Last minute changes:

*** HD-Install

       Included on this disk is a hard disk drive installer. To run
       it just double-click on the HD-Install icon. It will then
       prompt you to specify which hard disk partition you want to
       install on. You need to type in the partition. Example dh0:
       or Work: The installer will run all by itself with very
       little help from you, with the exception of several disk swaps.

Note: The installer installs ALL PageStream files,including
       all printer drivers. Under normal conditions you won't need
       all of the printer drivers and you can delete the ones you're
       not using.

*** Booting PageStream in different color/screen modes

       Like the documentation says for booting via a CLI, Pagestream
       can boot in various color and screen modes. To do this from
       the Workbench, you have to change the "Tool Types" of
       PageStream's program icon. the steps are:

     1. Select on the PageStream program (remember selecting
         means only clicking once on the icon, whereas a double-
         click will load PageStream).

     2. Go to the menu called "Workbench", and click on "INFO"

        A new window will open and in the middle look for "Tool
        Types"

     3. Click your cursor on the line following "tool types" and
        you can edit the line to your liking. (Use the up/down
        arrows to see more options.)

   The available options are:
                            SCREEN=Custom
                            SCREEN=WorkBench (boots program in workbench
                               screen and is limited to Wb's colors)

                            COLORS=Two        (2 color mode)
                            COLORS=Four       (4 color mode)
                            COLORS=Eight      (you get the idea)
                            COLORS=Sixteen

                            INTERLACE=Yes
                            INTERLACE=No

NOTE: You must follow the capitalization exactly as typed above!
 If you don't, it won't work!

     4. Finally, click on the "Save" button in the lower left of
        screen to end.

   Now loading the program by double-clicking on it will boot with
   the new settings you have made.

*** PostScript Users:

       There is no longer a separate driver for Linotronic (and similar)
       printers. The Correct driver to use would be the standard
       PostScript driver.

*** Documentation changes

 PageStream 2.0
  Publishing for the Nineties

  Page 5

       Due to delays in receiving fonts and imminent printing deadlines,
       the sample output of CSTimes, CSTriumvirate, and Garamond did
       not happen. Therefore the examples are not the true typefaces
       represented (even though they are close).

*** 1 megabyte Amiga Users

       As the power and sophistication of software increases so does
       program size.PageStream 2.0 is substantially larger (approximately
       80k-100K larger than version 1.8), hence it will use more memory.

       Pagestream 2.0 will load and work in a 1 meg environment, but
       keep in mind that there will only be about 256k of memory left-
       over for you to open a document, edit it, and print it. Print
       times will increase, limitations as to the number and size of
       bit mapped IFF graphics that can be imported, are all a result
       of lower amounts of free memory.

*** Appending Documents

       PageStream v2.0 cannot Append documents that are in v1.8 format.

NOTE: PageStream v2.0 saves documents in a new format. Therefore, previous
      versions (like 1.6 or 1.8) of PageStream won't be able to load 2.0
      documents. However, v2.0 can "Load" documents from any previous
      version.

*** Keyboard Equivalents

       PageStream no longer uses the "Alt" key to perform program
       functions (example: ALT E was for Edit Coordinates). The "Alt"
       key is now used to access the characters of the upper 128 set.
       (PageStream supports a 256 character set, with the lower 128 being
       accessed via the normal keyboard. AaBbCc123!@# etc.)

       This has caused some minor changes in functions that used the ALT
       key. Macros used the ALT key to capture a key sequence. Now use
       the control key in place of the ALT key.

     Example: CTRL F1 (start capture) (enter key sequence to be captured)
              F1 (ends capture).

*** Filling Large Polygons

       Due to limitations the program will display a filled large polygon
       as a filled rectangle.

*** IFFILBM.Driver  (Beta)

       This is a print driver which allows you to print to disk a PageStream
       document (you must print pages separately) in standard IFF ILBM
       picture format. The page that was printed can then be Edited with
       any amiga paint program like Deluxe Paint III (Electronic Arts) or
       Digi Paint 3 (Newtek).

     Special Controls

       When using this printer driver its default is to print the bitmap
       in black and white. The driver can however print the bitmap in
       COLOR. To do this enter "COLOR" (without the " marks) in the Printer
       Control Field under Printer Configuration requester. See picture
       on page 10.5 of the manual. The Printer Control Field is labeled
       Special:

*** IBM EPS import module

       This Encapsulated PostScript import module can import EPS graphics
       that have a bitmap TIFF header. The options that are available when
       importing are:

            with picture includes the bitmap which gives a
                              screen representation, and can
                              printout the bitmap to non-PostScript
                              printers. Also uses MORE Memory

            without picture strips out the bitmap representation
                              which leaves a bounding box (box with
                              diagonal crosed lines) representation.
                              Uses less memory.
