============================================================== Welcome to PageRender3D ----------------------- April 12, 1989 ============================================================== *** User's Manual: Typos, Revisions or Additions *** ============================================================== INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW ========================= PAGE 3: Starting the Program with Page3D Disk --------------------------------------------- KeyMaps: Each country can have its own keyboard. The keymap is a table which allows the Amiga to convert the country's particular keyboard to codes that the Amiga understands. The Startup-Sequence of the Page3D disk sets the keymap to usa1. If you are booting with this disk and you need another keymap you must change it. This can be done in two ways: 1. Revise the Setmap command in the Startup-Sequence of the Page3D:s/ drawer using a text editor, then reboot. 2. Open the System drawer, click once on the SetMap icon then revise the Tool Type to your keymap after selecting the Workbench Info drop down menu item. Now, double click the SetMap icon. Everytime you re-boot with this disk you need to double click the SetMap icon. The Page3D disk has available in the Devs:KeyMaps drawer the following keymaps: cdn ch1 ch2 d dk e f gb i is n s usa0 usa1 usa2 PAGE 4: ShowANIM ----------------- The use of the AmigaDOS Path command will not enable PageRender3D to find ShowANIM as the manual suggests. PageRender3D will, however, look for ShowANIM in three places: The "command" directory C: The root directory Sys: The Utilities drawer Sys:Utilities The recommended place to put ShowANIM is in the Utilities drawer. This is only because the ANIM file icons that PageRender3D creates has as a Default Tool: Sys:Utilities/ShowANIM. Note, ShowANIM requires the file icon.library in your DEVS: directory to work. CHAPTER 5: FILES ================ File Icons ---------- Project icons can have a Default Tool which will be used to display the file when the icon is double clicked. For example, a Default Tool for a text file might be something that would display the text file or perhaps even allow you to edit it. A Default Tool for an IFF picture file might be something that would display the file. To check what a project icon's default tool is, if any, click the icon, then select the drop down Workbench menu item Info to open the Info window. Note, the info.library must be in the LIBS: drawer for this to work. PageRender3D generates text files, IFF-ILBM files and IFF-ANIM files. These are all considered project icons as opposed to other icon types such as: disk, drawer, tool or garbage can icons. If PageRender3D is set to create icons (which is its default setting) when it saves files, then the file's icon will have the following Default Tools: PageRender3D Icon's File Type Default Tool ------------------------------------- Setup Sys:Utilities/More Script Sys:Utilities/More Facet Sys:Utilities/More IFF-ILBM Sys:Utilities/Display IFF-ANIM Sys:Utilities/ShowANIM When you double click an icon that has a Default Tool, the Default Tool is loaded which then loads the file of the icon. If the Default Tool is not available or the system can't find it, the Workbench screen will beep and that's it. In addition to a Default Tool, an icon can also have a Tool Type which is additional information that the tool can use to display the file. The Tool Type is the equivalent to a command's argument if entered at the CLI. When Page3D creates an ANIM file, its Default Tool is Sys:Utilities/ShowANIM. Its Tool Types are set to: LOOPS=25 For non-continous looping, 25 times TIMING=6 For forced timing of 6 jiffies per frame The Default Tool and Tool Types can be revised using the Info menu item of the Workbench menu. Select the ShowANIM or Display icon in the Utilities drawer twice to see what are the available Tool Types for these tools. CHAPTER 7: SETUP ================= The default setup was changed from "Icons off" to "Icons on". This means that when you save files with Page3D that the file will have an icon with it.
