Registration is required to receive technical support and is also very important so that we may notify you of enhancements to Termite. *********************************************************************** COMPUSERVE USERS: PLEASE REFER TO MANUAL FOR CONNECTING INSTRUCTIONS. *********************************************************************** ASCII Send Window ----------------- A temporary window will open for the duration of an ASCII send. Closing this window will abort the ASCII send. This is contrary to the manual. Multi-select File Requesters ---------------------------- The file requesters for the "Transfer|Upload..." menu item and the "Add" button in the Upload List are now "multi-select" capable. This means that you can hold down shift and select multiple files for the operation. A note on Zmodem Uploads ------------------------ If you have the baud rate in your serial settings much higher than the baud rate of the modem you are using(e.g. serial settings 38,400 on a 9600 baud modem) than you may be forced to specify a non-zero frame rate in the Zmodem options. This is because you are transfering data to the modem far faster than the modem can send it to the host causing an overflow situation. Specifying a frame size will eliminate the overflow at the expense of trasfer rate. You will achieve a much better throughput by keeping the Zmodem frame size at the default 0 and reducing the baud rate in the serial settings nearest to the baud rate that your modem is physically connected to the host. (i.e. 9600 on a 9600 connection, 19,200 on a 14,400 connection, 38,400 on a 28,800 connection etc) New Button Bar Functions ------------------------ Button bar functions have been added for each of the settings windows. Terminal Settings Change ------------------------ The "ANSI" and "VT" built-in emulations described in the manual now appear as two separate emulations, rather than as one "ANSI/VT" emulation. ZMODEM Frame Size ----------------- If you get a lot of "Resending from...." errors when doing a ZMODEM upload, go to Transfer Settings, and edit the "Frame Size" value. Try setting it to "8192" and if you still get "resending" errors, lower it until they stop. However, if you get no errors with 8192, you can increase it to boost performance. Phonebook shortcuts ------------------- In the phonebook or phonebook editor, you can hit the tab key, and the currently highlighted system or line will be updated to reflect all of your current settings. Chat History ------------ Double-clicking on a line in the history buffer of the chat window will send that line to the modem. This is undocumented in the manual. RIP XEM available on request ---------------------------- RIP graphical emulation is available in the form of an XEM library. If you would like a copy of this public domain library, write or call us and we will send it to you. ANSI Emulation -------------- If you are having trouble getting correct emulation of some ANSI screens, make sure that your terminal window is set to be 80 columns wide and 25 rows tall. Many ANSI screens are designed in such a way that they will not appear correctly without these dimensions. QUIET ARexx command ------------------- An ARexx command "QUIET" has been added. This allows an ARexx script to change the serial settings' "Quiet" flag. The syntax is "QUIET TRUE" to make the serial port quiet, and "QUIET FALSE" to make it active again. Change to TIMEOUT ARexx command ------------------------------- Issuing the ARexx command "TIMEOUT 0" will disable timeouts for the ARexx "WAIT" command. Change to Macros ---------------- "Run Script" macros no longer need a full pathname to the script to be run. Termite will look in the Scripts directory as specified in Path Settings.
