                 6510 version, optimized cable schematics

PData is a file transfer utility for exchanging information between the
good old C64 and the state-of-the-art Amiga. By the date, it's the best
data transfer solution between these two computers there's to my knowledge.

First of all, you'll need a special cable between the C64 and Amiga.
You can build this cable by following the schematic below, but before
getting started, make sure you got the following...

                - One card edge connector for C64 user port
             - One male D-25 connector for Amiga parallel port
            - Suitable lenght of flat cable (Width 12 or more)

              B FLAG* STROBE 1
              C PB0 DATA 0 2
              D PB1 DATA 1 3
              E PB2 DATA 2 4
              F PB3 DATA 3 5
              H PB4 DATA 4 6
              J PB5 DATA 5 7
              K PB6 DATA 6 8
              L PB7 DATA 7 9
              M PA2 BUSY 11
              8 PC* ACK* 10
              N GND GND 17

The syntax for using Amiga end of PData:

                     pdata <<s/r/?> <path><filename>>

                    (s = send / r = receive / ? = help)

                  Example : pdata r dh1:dl/c64_rules.txt

                   Pressing CTRL-C will abort transfer.

If you're a user of DiskMaster2, adding the two following lines to your
Startup.DM will ease the use of PData considerably...

 AddMenu Special, PData Send, 1, StdIO "CON:0/11/640/245/Transfer Window";
                       Extern PData S %s;StdIO CLOSE
AddMenu Special, PData Receive, 2, StdIO "CON:0/11/640/245/Transfer Window";
                       Extern PData R %s;StdIO CLOSE

Unfortunately, I don't have an idea how to make a receive sentence, which
would ask and create new filenames. The receive sentence you see above
simply overwrites selected files in source directory. Maybe reading
               DiskMaster's documentation might help...? :(

When transfering the C64 end of PData (PData.C64) to the C64, you must use
the filename "PDATA 3.3-SHARKS". If you're unable to transfer the file by
yourself or don't have a null modem cable for temporilary use, feel free to
send me a 5.25" disk with SAE and IRC, and I'll copy you the file.
(If you fill the disk with some warez, I'll reply faster... =)

When receiving files on the Amiga, I suggest you redirect the files to RAM:
or something similar, unless you're a patient person with lots of spare
time to waste. Using DF0: or some other floppy drive is not adviced,
since PData v2.0ß doesn't unfortunately have a receive buffer.
(Receiving files on a 68000 based machine is slightly slower than
sending 'em - surprise, surprise - even if redirected to RAM:)

If you have a multifacecard (MFC) in your Amiga, remember you must use the
PData.CFG in S: directory to re-route PAR: into PIT:. Use CEd or
something to edit the file so that it states PIT:<cr>.

The Amiga end should be updated soon, Hude has located the source code.
We just have to do "some" brainwork about the updates.

I need a voluntary person to code a 80X86 end of PData. If you think
you're THE person, then contact me immediately!

For the C64 end, I can tell I'm constantly updating the program.
You'll always find the latest version from Deep Thought.

Besides ordinary trading, you can also contact me for swapping "oldies" on
the C64. There's plenty of titles in my collection, but as usual, no-one's
perfect and therefore I lack lots of stuff. If you share similar interests,
then wait no more, just contact me at the address below!

Now comes the boring bit for every law-abiding citizen (Read : Non-scener).
(Well, every true scener just skips words like this in 0.001 seconds ;)
The authors take no responsibility for any damage caused by PData.
Everyone may spread PData freely as long as all of it's files remain
unchanged. PD companies may also distribute PData at a reasonable price.

Well, that's it. Until next version...
