                             KILLJOY

This game was inspired by Sega's "Virtua Cop".

If you notice any similarity then you clearly have vision problems.

Installation
============

If you want to install Killjoy on your hard drive, like maybe you have
brain damage or something, simply copy all the files across to the
required directory. Then simply double-click on the icon and you're away!

(When I say "away" I mean away to the pub so you are not tempted to play
 this rubbish)

List of files
=============

Killjoy       : Main Program
Killjoy.Doc   : This text file
Spud : Data file - MUST be in the same directory as Killjoy
Ulike : Data file - MUST be in the same directory as Killjoy
Intro         : Dancing Yak Intro

How to Play
===========

Try to get the highest score you can by shooting as many people as possible.
That's it.

Points are awarded for accuracy and the number of fatalities.

Although the characters who run across the screen do not shoot at you,
letting them get from one side of the screen to the other will have an
adverse affect on your score. (THIS IS A LIE)

HEAVY LEGAL STUFF:
Although the program 'Killjoy' is Public Domain, Dancing Yak Productions
retain copyright for everything except the music, sound effects and screen
shaking routine. So don't mess about with it, 'cos it's naughty.
This program features copious amounts of violence, bloodshed and genocide,
and is therefore unsuitable for young children and elderley wusses. Any
attempt to copy the events portrayed in this game will result in my death.

Questions and Answers
=====================

Q. Have you got any playing tips?
A. Shoot the knife/cleaver guys in the chest, as their heads move quickly.

Q. How did you get the graphics for Killjoy?
A. I leapt about in front of a video camera and stuck the tape through my
   digitiser. I then drew over the footage using the fixed background mode
   on Dpaint, and whacked the results into AMOS. This technique is called
   rotoscoping, and is used by professional animators to achieve lifelike
   movement. We at Dancing Yak use it to achieve naff sprites with loads
   of animation frames but bugger all detail.

Q. Why is the background so unfeasibly crap?
A. I can't draw (see above).

Q. How many stray pixels are there in Killjoy?
A. Far too many.

Q. Why do the sprites at the bottom of the screen sometimes flicker really
   horribly?
A. Not sure. I think it's something to do with a double-buffering problem
   in AMOS.

Q. How come there isn't enough room for the legs of the characters in the
   windows?
A. Shut up.

Q. Why does the Sun shine?
A. The Sun is a mass of incandescant gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace where
   Hydrogen is built into Helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.

Q. What is the eighth word on line 7 of page 211 of Whitley Strieber's
   novel 'The Wild'?
A. Wolf.

Q. I have a job in an office, answering the telephones. Two months ago my
   girlfriend got a job in the office next door. Everything was fine until
   we split up. Now every time I go through to the coffee machine she
   starts giggling with her friends, which is really embarrassing. I don't
   know what she's told them but it won't be long before her stories drift
   through to the office where I work. I'm very shy and I'm really worried
   that everyone will laugh at me behind my back. What should I do?
A. Save yourself. Kill them all. (c) Dr H Lecter

Q. I have been told that the carburettor in my 1979 Morris Marina estate
   is non-standard. What difference does this make?
A. Your carburettor is probably of the HS4 Capstat type. The Capstat is
   a modified jet assembly containing a small cylinder of wax. The unit
   operates on similar principles to the thermostat in the cooling system,
   and automatically enriches or weakens the fuel mixture slightly
   according to temperature.

Q. Did you have a nice weekend?
A. Not really.

APATHY
======

The All Purpose Application That Helps You.

Or not, as the case may be.

APATHY is like a gigantic executive toy, with over 50 functions. It does
a hell of a lot of things, and none of them have any real use.

Features include:

        * Decision Maker
        * Yak Racing
        * APATHY Paint (For those who can't be bothered to draw)
        * Comprehensive speech synthesizer
        * The dreaded ASCII dancer
        * The APATHY Quiz
        * ALL the finishing moves for Mortal Kombat II
          (that actually work on the Amiga version! for instance,
           did you know that Shang Tsung's Kintaro fatality is
           Hold Fire + back, back, forward, forward, up, up?)
        * Absolutely loads more. No, really.

APATHY will work on any Amiga with 2Mb RAM.

If you can't get hold of a copy, just send a blank disk to the address
given below.

Gribble
=======

Is there someone who you really hate? Would you just like to kill them?
Well, now you can! (sort of)

Gribble allows you to enter the name of your favourite enemy, then choose
the manner of their execution. Then you get to watch it.

Gribble features exploding heads, horrific machines of death and
destruction, falling cars and blood all over the place.

Special mention must be given to the fantastic sound effects used (but
not to the graphics, because they're crap).

If for some reason you want to get hold of a copy of Gribble but are having
difficulty doing so, simply send a blank disk to the address given below.
You know it makes sense. (sort of)

Sim-Art
=======

The artwork of Simon Waite, my graphically talented friend. You'll
probably have seen some of his work by now, but suffice to say his pictures
are EXCELLENT.

YakBlank
========

YakBlank is the official Dancing Yak Screen Saver. I've got a running
Beta version and it's really cool - lots of weird things float over a
black screen.  These things include:

* Robocop with a propeller in his head
* Flying yaks
* Sword fights
* Marge Simpson being pulled along on a trolley by a giant hand
* REM lyrics
* A man half immersed in a pot of jam with a parachute attached to his
  ears
* Nothing whatsoever to do with the Norwich Union Life Insurance Society.

LETHARGY
========

LETHARGY is APATHY V2 - The Sequel.
Or it would be, if it was finished.

I've programmed a completely new mouse controlled user interface, but I
haven't actually added any functions yet. So if you have APATHY and also
have some ideas for new things to put in it, send them to me and they might
just end up in LETHARGY.
