RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK With their next to last album "Mother's Milk" they become one of the best funk and roll bands. On this one they are working together with producer Rick Rubin, who was the first producer in 80s to put heavy metal guitar in to the funk (Run DMC, Beastie Boys). He took out of the RHCP the thing they are best in, and that is naked live playing. Group is made of excellent musicians, so the voice is the worst part of the sound. Vocal parts are really weak but the music is mixed up with fragments of funk, hard rock, speed and hip-hop. The quality of sound is lost a little bit 'coz of Rubin's putting into the first plan live music, so that RHCP sounds like the best garage band in the world (and they are !!!). And that means a lot to everybody who prefers live music. LIVING COLOUR BISCUITS This mini LP contens six not released before songs recorded live on concerts or taken live in studio. This mini LP shows Living Colour the one of absolute the strongest musicians at todays rock-scene. Living Colour are absolutly brilliant while playing their own versions of James Brown's "Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothing", Al Green's "Love And Happines", Talkin Heads's "Memories Can't Wait" and Jimi Hendrix's "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp". They are fast and powerful, but never boring and always come out with something new and impressive. THE CULT CEREMONY Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy are for long time now known as The Cult, taking from time to time top musicians on drums, bass and this time also on keyboards. They made typical Cult album with tipical Cult songs like "Wild Hearted Son", "Ceremony" and "Sweet Salvations". Album is god as one part, but it misses songs like "Wild Flower" or "Fire Woman". Album shows fascination with America and it's native culture, maybe something like U2 from "Rattle And Hum" album. With song "Heart Of Soul" they have entered into heavy trend of acoustic ballads. RAMONES RAMONESMANIA This double LP contents almost everything what you should have (or want to) from Ramones. Ofcourse, as always in such situations some songs are missing, this time from "Brain Drain" but it isn't so important. Interesting is choice of songs, 'coz there are few which wasn't hits in their time, but group probably likes them. With this album is on proper way celebrated 15 years of contravers punk career: short, fast and tough. EXTREME EXTREME II: PORNOGRAFFITTY Hit songs like "Get The Funk Out Of Here" and "More Than Words" inshured this heavy funk and roll band high positions on music charts all over the world. With fantastic guitarist Nino Bettencourt's, who shows his virtuosity on all 13 tracks on this album, and fast strong playing, Extreme have the first position among new coming america's like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limbomaniacs, Faith No More etc. Extreme gives them so needed musical refreshment and virtuosity. In some element this album has even reached master piece of Aerosmith - album "Pump", and I think there is nothingmore to say! This is not review of latest albums, but of the few ones from '91. which I really love. MISFIT
