LED ZEPPELIN In the beginning of 1969. group with strange name "Led Zeppelin" entered the studio for the first time. Result was there after only 30 hours of recording! Album "Led Zeppelin" was out and after two months it was in top ten on Billboard list of the most selling lp's. In it's career group recorded ten lp's and they all went platinum! When listening to this one, twentythree years later, there are still few impressive things to hear. Music is still fresh and fantastic, and listening gives the answer to question from where is coming the sound of today popular and successful rock bands. When nine songs (40 minutes of music) are recorded in just a little more than one day, than there is no time for preparing and musicians has to be really the best. Two blues songs "You Shock Me" and "I Can't Quit You Babe", by Villy Dickson, and one by Jimmy Page "Dazed And Confused" together lasts for over 18 minutes. One is traditional ("Baby, I'm Gonna Leave You"), the other one reminds english folk ("Black Mountain Side") which shows Page's and Plant's interests in old english music. Other songs are made from fast guitar riff's and strong rhythm sections ("Communication Breakdown", "How Many More Times", "Good Times Bad Times"). Second lp, named only "Led Zeppelin II" was out at the end of the same year and in two months it was number one on Billboard. The best songs are probably "Whole Lotta Love", "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)". Interesting is that lp was produced by Page. Next year the new lp was out, named "Led Zeppelin III"! Cover was designed by Zacron and it was some kind of post psychodelic art. Classic songs are "Immigrant Song", "Friends", "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Tangerine". Most of the songs are played by acoustic guitar, it's heavy rock. The fourth lp was out in 1971. On the cover there wasn't neither one word, name of the group, company or something else. On the first side photo of the old man who is collecting branches, and on the back side is wall on which is that photo scratch and behind is few miserable houses with skyscraper. The problem was how to named the lp which is on the top of the Billboard? First two songs are almost heavy metal "Black Dog" and "Rock And Roll", than comes acoustic "The Battle Of Evermore" which Plant sings together with those days famous english folk singer Sandy Denny. Than comes one of the best, the greatest rock songs ever "Stairway To Heaven". Storm with barok acoustic beginning and heavy explosion end. This is the moment when they reached the top and where they stay 'till nowadays. After two years of silence lp "Houses Of The Holy" was out. Due to the influence of that time actual simfo-rock, this is the slowest and easiest Led Zeppelin lp. The strongest song is "The Song Remains The Same", but it's followed by the slowest ones "The Rain Song", "No Quarter"... American tour after that was mega successful. Beatles tickets selling records were broken. In 1974. on Peter Grant's suggestion Led Zeppelin established their own record label "Swan Song", but distribution stayed at "WEA Atlantic" corporation. Under this label in 1975. new double lp "Physical Graffiti" showed up. Fifteen songs with fifteen strong reasons for releasing. There are songs for everyone's taste here: heavy "The Rover", "Custard Pie", "Houses Of The Holy", epical "Kashmir" and "In The Light", blues "In My Time Of Dying", funky "Trampled Under Foot", folkie "Down By The Seaside" and classical piano boogie "Boogie With Stu". Than they begin to work on movie about themselves. Movie "Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains The Same" was out in 1976. together with eight, double live lp. Seventh studio lp "Presence" was out only few months before this double premiere. This live lp and movie was recorded at concert in Madison Square Garden, New York. Album "Presence" was recorded in Musicland Studios, Munich than probably the best studio in the world. Sound is harder again and songs like "For Your Love" and "Nobody's Fault But Mine" are the best example for that. After year in which they released lp, movie and double live lp, they took longer holiday. First news from them came after three years. Group was in Stocholm in Abba's studio, recording offcourse. Ninth lp "In Through The Out Door"was out in 1979., two years after punk. That was the best answer to punk that there is end of rock. Songs are fast and strong as always, full of energy - "Fool In The Rain", "Hot Dog"...Blues "I'm Gonna Crawl" closed the lp and career of Led Zeppelin. On 25.September 1980. John Bonham died in Page's house same way as Hendrix, he puked while he was sleeping and that strangled him. On December of the same year other members decided that group is spliting because there's no one to replace Bonham. Album "Coda" was out in 1982. and it's treated as official group album. It was completed out of old songs which wasn't good enough to be out before. Although they are good enough to become platinium. DISCOGRAPHY: -"Led Zeppelin" (1969. Atlantic) -"Led Zeppelin II" (1969.
