COUNTDOWN TO
    EXTINCTION


   NO, this article is not a review of
Megadeth's  latest album (you can find
it  in 'Music corner'), in fact it has
nothing  to  do with music, this is my
opinion  about  the  situation  in the
world   today   and  aspects  for  the
tomorrow.



   I  used to think about myself as an
optimist, but in the light of the last
few  years  and the development of the
world  situation  today  I can summ my
opinion up simply as:
NO FUTURE!

   Allow  me  to  elaborate on my such
pessimistic opinion.  Can you remember
one  globally good thing that happened
in last few years?  No!  Everything is
going  wrong!   World  environment  is
being  destroyed,  wars  are  breaking
out  everywhere, United Europe idea is
failing,  world economy is in decline.
One thing worse than the other...  You
may say 'Well, the communism is gone!'
Fine,  but  what  do  we have as it is
gone?   War  all  over what used to be
Yugoslavia,  conflicts in ex-USSR with
even  a  few  bloody  wars (Kazahstan,
Uzbekistan...),  Chekoslovakia  fallen
apart.   And  that is not all, fascism
is   breaking  out  everywhere:   East
Germany,  France,  Italy,  not to even
mention   Serbia.   Regional  disputes
everywhere:   Northern  Ireland (IRA),
Italy  (Lega  Nord), Spain (ETA), even
here in Croatia tensions between north
and  south  (Dalmatia).   And  this is
only  the situation in Europe!  Hunger
and  undevelopment in Africa and Asia,
communism in China and Cuba, Drug wars
in   South  America,  Arab  and  Jewes
conflict  in  Near East, Saddam regime
in    Iraq.     Rascism   is   showing
everywhere:    against   Japanese  and
blacks  in USA, against foreigners all
over    Europe,    in    ex-Yugoslavia
territory, in Africa...
   Still   optimistic?   Here  are  my
predictions  of  what  the future will
bring for us...
   Firstly,  a  great  war  at  Balkan
involving Serbia, MonteNegro, Albania,
Croatia,   Bosnia   and   Hercegovina,
Macedonia,  Bulgaria and maybe Greece.
State  of  emergency  in  Italy, Great
Britain  and  East  Germany  with  the
possibility   of  bloodsheds.   United
Europe in crumbles, world economy in a
great  downfall,  hundreds of millions
of  starved  to death people in Africa
and  Asia,  escalation  of disputes in
ex-USSR, environment in wrecks, global
warming,   polar  caps  melting,  skin
cancer  and  AIDS  wide-spread, blacks
uprising  in South Africa and probably
in  USA.   Terrorism everywhere.  Ever
read  Cyberpunk?   Well, then you know
what I mean...
   My  advice  to  you is:  don't make
any  great plans for the future, stash
money  away,  or  even  better turn it
into  gold or other valuables and just
hope  you  make it.  Meanwhile, try to
enjoy  life  at  full  strength  while
there is still something to enjoy...
