TITLE:HURRICANE PARTY 1992 - Part I PALETTE:0223 0779 099b 09a9 3 FROM HERE TO HURRILAME by RokDaZone (01.07.92) 2Hello. (Hah! I guess, you have guessed it. Only one person is able to use such a smashingly interesting but still somehow taktful introduction. Yes, I do admitt, it was all my idea. I - RokDaZone - will take the full responsibility for it... ) After this smashingly interesting but still somehow taktful introduction, I think, it is about the time to tell you what the topic is about. Armchairs? No, not quite. 2Hurrilame Party'92? 1No, not quite, but getting closer. A smashingly interesting but still somehow taktful story about three German guys, leaving their homes on the 27th June at about 6a.m. to drive to the Hurrilame Party, not knowing what consequences they will have to draw from it? Yes, baby, you've got it!!! In fact, those three guys were 2Pinny of ANARCHY1, 2Higgie of BRAINBOMBS(C64) 1and me, your modest tiny little editor, providing you with all those smashingly interesting but still somehow taktful introductions and maybe also stories. For the first time in my entire life, I went too late (10min.). For the first time in HIS life Higgie was in time, when I arrived at his house in my lovely car named 2RIFFRAFF1. Like everytime, Pinny was not finished with preparing himself, because he had to drink some coffee before leaving to the party - I think, I shall get used to it... At first, we had a quite good time, chatting around (at least Higgie and me had, because we played some reggae-music, making Pinny demand some Techno. Later on, his wish got fullfilled.), but then we had to pass the first probleme: A roadblock in Bremen (50km from our hometown) and a confusing trafficsigh-forest made me loose my way, none of my mates sitting there lazy did even think about taking a map before and therefore they were not able to help me at all. Thank you... After about 20minutes of desperate search for the right highway in direction of Hamburg, however, I finally managed to get out of this city and calmed down a bit. Then, HAMBURG! Arrgh, I hate that town, because everytime I have been there, I always got prisoned in a bad roadblock. I hate roadblocks. This time, however, there was not. I was so astounded, I nearly drove into a van to create one. Well, nothing special happened first, but then... Near Neumuenster (remember my report from our journey to Flensburg in the last issue?) suddenly the petrol gauge started to drop extremely fast. First of all I thought that there must have been a chap in my tank, but there was no gasoline to see behind us and the car still drove normally. After approx five minutes, the gauge increased again and we started to laugh about our worries. A chap? Ha, nothing but hallucinates... or so we thought. In about 20km distance of Flensburg the gauge dropped again and so we decided to stop at one of those small resting places besides the highway and so we did. We stepped outside and looked at the motor, the tank and whatever, but did not see anything special at all. So we decided simply to rest for some minutes to tar our lungs (smoking). Then two cars parked besides us and six girlies climbed out of them. We immediately started to show our widespread collection of chauvinistic jokes - without the girlies hearing it, of course! We did not wanted to be part of a ritual murder for any feministic gods of emancipation, you know. Well, finally we decided to leave those highway-beauties and so we stepped back into the car. I shut the door, locked the safetybelt... "Hey, Henning. You've forgotten to shut the heckdoor." Rolling laughters by those fools while I had to unlock the belt and step outside to shut it. Again, I shut the door, locked the safetybelt, turned the key and - - - - - Nothing! Nothing at all. Not a sausage. Bugger all... Now, we faced reality and I suggested that they should push the car a bit in order to convince it to run by giving a small example of how to do it. Pinny felt a bit uncomfortable about losing his macho-ego when doing this work in front of some chicks, so we had to wait until these girlies went on. Then they pushed the car about five metres and the motor started working again. Unfortunately, the gauge started to drop again after just some kilometres, but luckily we managed to make the way to Flensburg. After some minutes we already found a service station of Volkswagen, where we were able to find help. Too bad, the lightmachine was full of oil and had to be exchanged. Even worse, we did not have enough money to pay a new one. Pinny suggested to drive to the local mainpost-office, so he could take some money from his account. Well, fine. The only probleme about it: RiffRaff was not awilled to load up his battery anymore. This means that luckily we were able to start the car once, but after I had stopped it at the post, it did not start so well again. This means at every single traffic-light, Pinny and Higgie had to push RiffRaff again and the powersupply got worse and worse. Somehow we managed to arrive back at the service-station - without money, because Pinny's account unexpectedly was empty. His firm did not sent the money in time. This means, we had not enough money for a new lightmachine and also we had to share our money (600,-DM) with him. Therefore, a new regulator was inserted into RiffRaff - just 140,- DM. AAARGH! Well, after this repair we made our way to Hov, where we got at the ferry to travel to Samso, were the party was supposed to take place. If you are interested about what happened there you simply have to look at one of those partytreports in this issue... Ok. At the 30. June about 13:30 we catched the ferry with a lot of other guys and without any collisions with other ship or catastrophies like that (maybe except those billions of insects flying around, getting on our nerves) we made the way back to Hov where - unexpectedly - RiffRaff was still waiting for us and - even more unexpectedly - started off without further problemes. Approx 30km distance to Flensburg, however, the gauge dropped again. 140,-DM for nothing! Higgie called his parents via phone and we decided to try to make our way to the mainpost-office of Flensburg, where we shall meet Higgies father who had to travel from Oldenburg to there just to help us. You must know that it is extremely expensive and problematic to bring a car home if you are in a foreign country. Luckily and unexpectedly again, after some metres of pushing RiffRaff's motor started working with a contented grunt and showed no extravagancas anymore till our destiny in Flensburg. There we had to wait approx three hours for Higgies father to come. While this time we had fun writing letters to our friends at home, took some food in a small Mazodonian restaurant, Higgie and Pinny got some milkshakes at McRubbish and we told everyone and everything that he/it was lame, megalame or even gigalame. Quite funny (Well... ). At about 22:00 Higgies father finally arrived telling us to be 'Knallkoepfe' ( = stupid gigs) and then we drove to a gasoline-station where he bought a cable to supply RiffRaff's battery with power, using the other cars battery. Teh, we stared our way back to Oldenburg, with his father driving directly behind me, so if things would go wrong again, he always could supply us with power. Believe it or not, with the danger of electroshocks in his neck, RiffRaff seemingly decided not take the risk and so we managed to drive back home with no further disturbances. At about 2:30a.m. we arrived in Oldenburg, where I had to bring Pinny at home, while Higgie - of course - drove home with his father. I finally arrived at my home at 3:00a.m., stumbled into my room, fell into my bed and started sleeping like death within a friction of a second. All in all, this trip costed me 140,-DM for repairs, 40,-DM for the cable, 300,-DM for food and 50,-DM for gasoline (we shared the costs for gasoline, else it would have been even more expensive...). 430,- DM for a lame organized party, a useless repair and a not used cable. Cool! So, if you want to go to the next party in Damnmark, pardon Denmark, by car from Germany with a VW Polo, you should better try not to pass Neumuenster, because seemingly there is some kind of ray, destroying the lightmachine. I went this route two times with a Polo and both times the lightmachines fucked up. Better take some of them and a skilled mechanic with you. Shall be more cheap...
