TITLE: THE NARRATOR CONTINUES... PALETTE:0223 047a 077a 0a77 You know, RokDaZone started off as most sceners did: He was a gamer. First he wanted to have a C64 as his friends all had one. Then he wanted to have an ATARI ST as his mates switched over to that platform. For a very strange reason, he finally got "CARMEN" - his first A500 - in late 1988 for a very strange reason: 3His mum liked its design better then the one of the ATARI. The start off was a bit rough for somebody like him. Too unexperienced to even handle the easiest CLI-commands, too impulsive to work it out. He started his carreer by playing PINBALL WIZARD all day... But he definately wanted to do more than this and so he asked 2SLIMER/ORION 1(later CELTIC and finally TRSI) to give him the brandnew SOUNDTRACKER. He loaded the proggy and... wasn't able to load samples. Two weeks later, SLIMER finally tought him that much and slowly he started to play around but failed again. 2JESSE MC1, who was in no way involved with the AMIGA finally taught him how to do it and the very same evening, RokDee, created his first track. It was awfull! Awfully bad. More then one month later, SLIMER discovered by chance that RokDee connected the AMIGA soundchannels and his monitor in a way that only two channels were to be heard. Comment Rok: "And I wondered that there were four channels in the Soundtracker when one only can use two!" He was a gifted talent of nature. As I said before, he wasn't so well, still he grabbed each demo he could get into his fingers (only source SLIMER and this mate wasn't pleased by that). Well, as time went by, he tried to swap - but failed miserably. Everyone dropped him after just four lettercontacts max. This was 1990. Then late 1990, he learned to know 2PINNY/AMAZE1 by chance, who was in the same class than JESSE MC. At that time, good ol'Rok had managed to do some tunes that didn't cause anyone to run away and so PINNY and BOMBER decided to let him into AMAZE. It was a short stay as the group split up just one month later. Still, there was something important in it: RokDee delivered his first article for AMAZE's FREEDOM CRACK - an interview with 2PINK PANTHER/SUPPLEX 1in January 1991. In late 1991, he became member of the newborn 2GLOOM AMIGA-section 1(for those who do not know: GLOOM were the exactly same 2OXYRON 1of today). The contact stopped soon. By that time, he still wrote for 2FREEDOM CRACK 1and experienced at the TREACL PARTY, how eager everyone was to talk to an editor to spread ones reputation. RokDaZone/GLOOM, a nobody, suddenly talked to "important" sceners who told him that all those unknown nobodies at that party were totally lame - and they didn't mean him! It was overwhelming. 1992 came and RokDee was without group, but asked PINNY - who was a member of ANARCHY at that time - to mail some of his articles to 2JUDGE DROKK/ANARCHY1, main-ed for 3STOLEN DATA1. So he did and the articles got printed in issue 8. Those were mostly non-scene articles, even dealing with serious topics like neo-Nazism, but also some shortstories. He was very ambitious and put much effort into his writings. He read books and papers just to do his series against Racism. Many people said (and still say) "These are no topics for diskmags. We simply want to have scenestuff." Yet, RokDee wasn't so wrong. He got respond from readers. Some Neo-Nazi even threated him for what he had written. A conglomery started with him as a central person, dealing with intrigueing stories about Neo-Nazism in the scene. Messerschmitt, need I to say more? With fresh motivation, he started working for issue 9 and when it was out, he was totally overwhelmed, the mag had gotten a perfect new shape and this gave a push for 3a) the mag 1and 3b) RokDaZone's reputation 1as he released quite ahandful of articles which were read rather well, as one could see from the letters, RokDee got. From that release on, Rok was a rather big number in the staff, although he never became ANARCHY member as he demanded. This was also the time, when he and 2TRIX/ANARCHY 1started to fight eachothers for influences into the mag, a battle, which also intoxicated TRIXs mood towards the other German ANARCHY members and made him kick out the new German section, which just released FLOWER POWER - a stunning demo - for being "lame" as he pointed out. This made PINNY to leave and this was the begin of the end of ANARCHY. But before that, STOLEN DATA 10 was released at the Party 2 and already then, RokDee was the head of the STOLEN DATA-Team and responsible for huge parts of the contents as he made people write for STOLEN DATA. JUDGE DROKK at that time already was demotivated and concentrated on the editing. It was the time that RokDee met 2MACNO 1and 2LORD HELMET 1for the first time and had his first fuzz with 2KINGPIN/PMC1. Another issue should never be released from one of the best mags, the scene ever had - in all longs... LEMON. got founded and ANARCHY laid down. TRIX and RokDaZone tried to let the mag survive and the STOLEN DATA-Team already managed to fill up one new issue. Was it due to RokDees demandings for more influence or due to the scoldings from ex-ANARCHY members? We won't know, why TRIX never released that 11th issue but left the scene. RokDee never was the same and till the end of his scenish career, he always dreamed of starting the mag anew. Once again, he was without job and without perspective. He became member of 2DESTINY 1as musician as he really improved his skills but as MACNO told him: "Your tunes are neat, but for me, you will always stay editor - you are better in it." Therefore, RokDee jumped of his own shadow, turned 180 degrees and signed up with RAW as co-ed. 3He really hated RAW 1in the beginning and was angry about LORD HELMETs arrogancy. Strange enough, rather soon, he got used to RAW and the tone there. He started to like working for them. 2ABNORMALIA 1became more and more fascinating to young RokDee and he also started to write for this mag as co-ed. By that time, he changed his writing style totally under the influence of MACNO and started to see his articles as piece of art which has to be worked out and thought about. It was the most creative phasis undoubtfully. The critics from other editors were astoundingly well, he thought. Yet, what he didn't knew was that the release of issue 6 with his articles in it should push him into the charts for the first time. We write the year 1993 of the lord, kiddies, time passes us by fast! Too bad, the inspirational break of LORD HELMET took place and so, RokDee started to job around for ABNORMALIA, HEADLINE, THING and SLEDGE HAMMER, raising his popularity without any doubt, but without real perspective. In the THING charts he reached rank two in the most popular intercontinental editor chart. In PROPAGANDA, he reached the number 7. Then, an old mate of his old group DESTINY (RokDee later joined DESERT and short after INFECT), who was a member of TALENT asked him to write for his soon-to-come mag named 2421. RoDaZone didn't just wanted to be co-ed once again, but the TALENTians also didn't wanted to make him main-ed so, RokDee offered to become main-ed for a submag. The name 3THE MARVELLOUS(!) LUNATICS BALL 1was found rather soon as he already had made up a concept for some strange kind of TV-show in which wellknown sceners get dumbfounded by the very same name. He also included some strange articles by a certain unknown Czech coder called 2JESUS CHRIST1. This man was totally insane, his mind confused and his visions morbid. Short: He was the most skilled writer from RokDee's point of view. Till his bitter end, Rok always said that behind this genius, even MACNO was just a small nill. Unfortunately, one of JESUS' strane shortstories was put down in 42 as being written by RokDee, a fact which made him feel quite uncomfortable towards JESUS. 342 issue one featured the first issue of THE MARVELLOUS(!) LUNATICS BALL... The audiences respond to that first issue of both mags was overwhelming as both were provocating and extreme. It was a mere success and 42 directly hit the charts with that first issue (although lower places)! Too bad, the second issue wasn't so well anymore and 42 turned out to be a oneway ticket. So, RokDee concentrated on ABNORMALIA once again and it remained like before: It was the most pleasurable kind of work one the highest possible level for him. He reaced the 5th rank in PROPAGANDA. ABNORMALIA is/was the best mag ever to him. The PANDEMONIC SCENE DEBATE was released. A mega-article with the most influential editors discussing the scene. This was the time, when RokDee had his first real contact to 2NIMROD 1and 2MOP1. MOP told his new friend he was about to launch a new mag and so he did. In it, RokDee was voted into the DREAM TEAM as editor. By that time the 4th issue of ABNORMALIA got released, RokDaZone fell into a deep depression. In a clear moment RokDee saw a new platform for his THE MARVELLOUS(!) LUNATICS BALL, but the post made his letter disappear - he never found it again - so the second issue got released without his contribution. Strange enough it was that time when he had a nervous breakdown which made it impossible for him to contribute in a normal scene life. BUZZ issue 5, released at the PARTY IV, was the succeedor of the hampered THE MARVELLOUS(!) LUNATICS BALL-release in ROM#2 and got all the articles for free. Strange enough, PLUGSTER its main-ed wasn't so pleased by the articles and RokDee feared BUZZs bad reputation could damage his submags well reputation and so this first cooperation attempt also was the last one. Our hero was at that time on his way to recovery. All doubts and deeps left far behind, he decided to leave the scene as active part and just do some articles. RAW was reborn and who contributed? RokDee. ROM issue 4 got released and again THE MARVELLOUS(!) LUNATICS BALL infiltrated another mag. But also 2CHIT CHAT 1issue 15 under 2MAGIC1, contained glimpses of it. A productive phasis without any doubt - strange way of leaving... Slowly, RokDee's impact on the scene has increased and at the climax, he also slowly began to step out of the scene as he before climed to do. RAW and ROM still had his interest, but else?
