TITLE:It's hard to think of head-titles really. PALETTE:0223 0668 0a57 0bb9 3 RAW FOR SALE! What if just in case maybe yet not certainly probable could be seemingly not. In other words: I have a new idea for an article but troubles to get things starting. Have you ever wondered why there are decreasing numbers of demos out throughout the year, yet to each party, cascades of boring animations get released? Seemingly each group with no name hopes to get rich - and fails. Is it due to spreading reasons? Or to say, "we were present, too"? Nope, certainly not. 3It is the money and it's profilalism. The ladder reason is not much apart from the origin of the scene: Getting presented over a big screen is todays having-an-intro-in-front-of- each-release-may-it-only-be-an-ascii-advert-syndrome of 1988. Yet, no topic for me. I have something in common with 2Lonestarr1: 3I am interested in the money. The scene gets adult, no reason to doubt even though some infantile grostectiles will ever be kids and not-so-many kids "float" over the scene. The average scener (which I have caught in a cage in my room) definately has becoming older over the years undoubtfully. With the increasing age, increasing needs and wants have arrived and not neccessarily it is new hardware. Blablabla... to put it bluntly: Why don't we set up our releases as Shareware? Answer: Simply as the system of shareware didn't function. It's an idealistic attempt which failed in the moment that shops began to sell shareware. No one actually pays for shareware - heroic crackers even managed to boast themselves by having "cracked" the 2EXOTIC RIPPER 1keyfile (one could say, they've copied it - 2VISION FACTORY 1would rotate in their graves). End of message? What I actually do is to think about an idea which is as old as the scene itself: Having professional scene releases. For instance diskmags would be perfect as professional ware. More or less skilled writers battle eachothers on the free market. Winners will be a) the best writers or b) the cheapest releasing team (at standard niveau). The advantages are multiple, but do they endanger the scene? 2"I personally 2don't think so," 1Dr. RokDazone explains, 2"the basic ideas of the socalled scene 2ain't set up rules. It has been, is and ever will be a neurotic fractal in an 2elseway shaped culture." 1Asked what this actually may mean in the end, you bastard, he continues: 2"There is no principle behind the scene, no law, no 2order. It's an oligarchist anarchy - oligarchy as few elite groups set up 2stakes (RED SECTOR, ANARCHY, ANDROMEDA); anarchy as the oligarchist few are only 2representative, not factually leaders. A system of such one-dimensionality 2can't be endanger due to a new idea. It can only be changed but not destroyed." 3Brutally interesting, asshole. So where is the final problem about selling ones releases? 2"No one will buy it!" 1Next joke - how comes, selling abos is so famous? 2"Everyone can leach everything from boards for free!" 1- Not, if the releases get never uploaded for free officially. 2"Then, it will spread only slowly and be old when I get it!" 1- Not, if you have bought an abo for the mag. 2"I won't get to see each mag then!" 1- Ooooh, I forgot, you read each mag on this world. Factual is: You have no need for more than two (or even one) mag(s) when you found the one you like and trust best. Let's be objective: On the long run, no one of us will be able to afford the time to work for free on scenish releases: At least not for much time, so releases might drop in quality. In case, we follow you ideas, Rok, who shall get which money? Easy: Each active member of the releasing team gets the right to sell this mag to his personal costumers, who he has to find first. The price and release date must be fixed but else no limitation. 2Getting paid for personal activity - where do 2I know this from? Of course then everyone may sell it too, but this would mean that he has to lower his price to give a reason to buy a few days old mag from him, when one could have gotten the same directly from the primal distributer. 3Difficulty: 1How to have team of people that work close enough together? Well, there are fixed teams present already (starting with the STOLEN DATA-Team which I set up then in 1992) still, they are lead by one person and this would have to be changed... Know what? THIS would be the answer to our 2"Shit, the PD-companies sell our releases"1-problem.
