Read his opinion biut keep in mind that we also have 2friends in the PC-scene, not only haters like him. 2>>> RokDaZone/INFECT <<< 3 THE LAMIGA HAD TO DIE! by KILLERHAWK/dEsTrOyErS pC Well, I don't like to say that I've told all of you before, that 2the LAMIGA will have to die soon 1- which in fact I did - as it often seems so self-boasting. Instead, I would like to describe how C= could have been saved. The LAMIGA has never been an equivalent challenger to the PC on the market, still we PC-users will somehow miss the machine you are just sitting in front of. 2It's something like the unliked little brother has died. 1Often one wished him all the worst, but when he finaly is gone, there is a hole where he stood before - he was a part of the family in the end. People keep on thinking that C= made the mistake of producing their (weak) PCs much too long so the LAMIGA wasn't able to safe the company, but this turns out to be utterly wrong! In fact, C= wasted too much years and budget on the new LAMIGAs, which now turn out to be a failure like the FALCON. The A500 was neat and sold well as it was a nice toy for kids, but those never wanted something like "high-end" LAMIGAs. The LAMIGA killed C= and not the PCs. Why did they do the new LAMIGAs? The consumer rates in recent years for the A500 were not bad afterall. No need for unneccessary risks like the A4000! What was the need for 68020/030/040 processors when there was the 2ARCHIMEDES with his RISC-processors already? The ARCHIMEDES is the only worthy competitor for the PC - too "bad" no one bought it. Hehehe!!! The best would have been to stop the LAMIGA after the A500 and use the money from it for having some real PCs. Fast INTEL processors and 2no clones from MOTOROLA again. 1They could have used some LAMIGA graphicchips for the standard platform of their PCs so that even people without cards would have something close to a neat graphic. Also the 4 soundchannels as a standard gift would have been enough impressing for people to buy the C= PCs (maybe I would have gotten myself one too then!). They also could have inserted a A500 software-emulator and lateron release an A500 card with some of the original chips. Now that C= is dead, we PCians can only say that Darwinism isn't so wrong afterall - 2the stronger ones survive and those were the PCs! 1The C= management were total buggers as they didn't realise, what the whole world already knew: The market of the LAMIGA were the kids, the gamers - no need for a extra CD32 to prove that. Faster LAMIGAs only devided the market and created two usergroups. One was the legitimate gamers and beginners group. The other group contained the ones who cried for faster chips in order not to loose contact to the faster PCs. THey meant more costs than financial gain and therefore made C= fade away! 3If C= had made the A500 unique with no new machines, then it would today have a 3status like the C64 has - a monument, a nostalgic beginners machine. Due to the 3new LAMIGAs, it is nothing more than another failed attempt to challenge INTEL!
