TITLE:ITALIAN LESSON 1 (Scene Lyrics 1) PALETTE:0113 0989 0789 0aa8 3ITALIAN LESSON Let's face it, the first words you learn of a new language are the swears and the coarse words, the ones that for you are just a sound but for the natives can be rude and quite strong insults. Well, guys, here is your occasion to learn new "sounds", bear them in mind, if you are somehow planning to visit this country, cos you will hear them quite easily. Be a bit careful in their use anyway, there can be misunderstandings... Let's start from the classic words, 2CAZZO 1and 2FIGA1, which can have different and maybe funny meanings. CUNT in italian is FIGA, which is a vulgar word (you will never hear it at the TV news...), but FIGA means also GIRL or GOOD LOOKING GIRL or also GIRL FRIEND, on the other way DICK is CAZZO but a boy is not a CAZZO and a good looking boy is a 2FIGO1. In italian if a word finishes with an "O" it's a male word, if it ends with an "A" it's female (there are exceptions but not important). So, even if FIGA stands for CUNT (or PUSSY) and nice girl, FIGO is only nice boy (and by no way it means dick). We will come back later on CAZZO and FIGA, now follows another example of a word with curious different meanings: 2CULO1. CULO (a little less vulgar than Figa) means ASS and also GAY, which can be a quite natural shift of meaning, but CULO means also LUCK! So if you say "Che culo!" you can mean: "What an ass!", "What a luck!", "What a gay!". Like in every other language there are many words that can mean "Pussy" or "Dick" or "Fuck" and have other different and normal meanings. For example the male masturbation is vulgarly translated as 2SEGA1 (you can guess how funny for us is the name of the videogames company...) but SEGA is also SAW (the word, not the past of See) and if you want to insult someone you can say him "Sei una sega", which means something like "You are unable to do anything, you are almost nothing, you are an asshole". That's not all, the italian doesn't use these words just with that meaning (and quite often, I'd dare to say), CAZZO and FIGA are two marvellous examples of words used as simple interjections, in the middle of sentences and without any real meaning, or as exclamations of surprise, anger, rage, disappointment and delusion. They can also be used as asseverations, assents. Here will follow a practical example, be careful because things start to get difficult, if you find problems read back the first part of the lesson :-> 2Mario: CAZZO 1(Interjection. Abbreviation: I)2, WHAT A FIGA! 1(nice girl) 3Luigi: FIGA! 1(Means assent. Abbr: A) 2Mario: FIGA 1(I)2, LOOK HER CULO! 1(ass) 3Luigi: CAZZO! 1(A)3, FIGA 1(I)3 I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH A CULO 1(ass)3. 2Mario: OH, FIGA 1(I)2, YESTERDAY I MET THAT FIGA 1(nice girl)2 OF JANE. 3Luigi: CAZZO 1(I)3, WHAT A CULO! 1(luck)3 AND WHAT CAZZO 1(no meaning, comparable to "hell" in "what the hell are you saying". Abbr: NM)3 HAVE YOU SAID HER? 2Mario: EH, FIGA 1(I)2, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT CAZZO 1(NM)2 SAY. 3Luigi: CAZZO 1(I)3, YOU ARE A SEGA 1(poor boy, asshole)3, FIGA 1(I)3, YOU CAN'T DO A 3 CAZZO 1("nothing")3 WITH SUCH A FIGA! 1(nice girl)3 CAZZO 1(I)3 YOU MUST 3 SAY SOME CAZZATA 1(new word! from cazzo, can be translated in this case with "bullshit") 3WHEN YOU MEET HER. 2Mario: EH, CAZZO 1(I)2, WHAT CAZZO 1(NM)2 COULD I DO? I NEVER KNOW WHAT CAZZO 1(NM)2 2 SAY, CAZZO 1(I, common also at the end of a phrase)2. 3Luigi: FIGA 1(I)3, WHAT CAZZO 1(NM)3 CAN I SAY YOU, IF YOU ARE A SEGA 1(asshole) 3 WITH THE FIGHE 1(plural of figa, here stands for nice girls)3 I CAN'T DO 3 A CAZZO 1("anything")3. 2Mario: CAZZO 1(I)2, VAFFANCULO 1(It means "Fuckoff", note the CULO at the end)2, 2 YOU ARE A SEGA 1(asshole)2 LIKE ME, ALWAYS DOING A SEGA 1(masturbation)2. 3Luigi: VAFFANCULO, PIRLA 1(new word: synonymous of "cazzo", but here means ASSHOLE (cazzo is never referred to people, you can say "testa di cazzo" (dick head) but not only "cazzo" to a person, "pirla" on the other way is never used as interjection)3, TESTA DI CAZZO, COGLIONE! (asshole, literally it means testicle (but is vulgar))3. 2Mario: HEI!, YOU ARE THE PIRLA 1(asshole)2, FANCULO 1(abbreviation of VAFFANCULO, fuck off) 2TESTA DI CAZZO 1(dickhead)2! 3Luigi: FIGLIO DI PUTTANA! 1("son of a bitch")3, FACCIA DA CULO 1("ass face")3, 3 VAFFANCULO! 2Mario: SEGAIOLO 1(the one who masturbates a lot)2, PIRLONE, COGLIONE, MINCHIONE, 2 CAZZONE!! 1(all meaning asshole or something similar, here) 3Luigi: YOU HAVE CULO 1(luck)3, TODAY I DON'T WANT TO SMASH YOUR FACCIA DA CAZZO (dick face)3. 2Mario: MA VA A CAGARE 1("fuckoff", literally it means "Go to shit")2, PIRLA. Ok, the discussion is ended (read again avoiding the brackets for something quite strange and maybe funny), note that many words are actually almost not said, like in every spoken language many words can be said very quickly so that are almost not understandable (especially the interjections). As you can guess when cazzo and figa are used as interjections they lose all their meaning becoming simple sounds. Of course not every italian speaks like that and, of course, not in every situation. As you have seen we have meet new interesting words. For example FUCK OFF has some italian variations, from the complete and quite radical 2VAI A FARE IN CULO1 to the common 2VAFFANCULO1 to the abbreviated and fast 2FANCULO1. Similar meaning has 2VAI A CAGARE (or VACCAGARE)1, which, I repeat, it's a quite direct invitation to go to defecate somewhere.
