123 By Budda/NFA For quite a while now I've been programming in AMOS Professional. I tend to stick to writing games that actually look decent and don't have anything in common with AMOS (except that they were made in the language.) Over the last year and a half I've come up with some great ideas (well I think they are!) for games. Most of them I've started but my problem is that I get so fuck bored of the little gems that i end up just abandoning them in all their glory. My main prob is that I don't have aybody to help me through the rough times when things like graphics and coding probs arise. So I have now decided that instead of just leaving them to rot on discs that I should share some of my ideas with all you readers. I have started most of the things and have actually got some of the code on disks. I've mentioned anything important along with each idea below. If you are intrested in any of my ideas then drop me a line to the address at the end of this doc. If you think you can help please get in touch as I'd really like to get at least one of these games finished! ------------------------------------------------------------ Game Title : RENTED GUNS Language : AMOS Started : March 1994 Completed : -= uncomplete =- Game type : First person RPG Based on one of my all time favourite games "Hired Guns" I attempted to create a two player version of the excellent game. I got as far as moving around the 3D world but came up against a brick wall when I couldn't solve a small problem of rotating the map when the player rotated left or right. This was a real shit thrower as I had some decent plans for the games. Some of my ideas were to make a two player hunt and kill each other section with loads of passages to creep around and blow the fuck out of each other. Also I wanted to make a one player game which was like the campaign section of "Hired Guns". Aswell as the main game I wanted to make it open ended so that extra disks could be used as extension levels or alternative campaign games etc. I would have liked to do a few piss takes of "Hired Guns" too.I had the character graphics already as they are provided free with the game for you to alter. I wanted to adjust them and change their names slightly. Also "Hired Guns" has the option of different 'languages' like French, German etc. I wanted to have the option of different dialect e.g Devonshire, Lancashire, Welsh, Scottish, oh and not forgetting the Londeners. All text that went scrolling across the screen during play would be said as if the characters were from that region of Britain! Different or what?? Since beginning to program "Rented Guns" I found that there was a disk with a 'skeleton' RPG adventure game program on it wriiten in AMOS. This is currently available in the AMOS PD library disk 200. (you may be able to get it from the NFA PD Stable. Try 'em!!!!) So far my problems are :- * Getting map to rotate around characters current position. * Having 2 people controling characters at the same time. * Creating some decent graphics to use in the game. Get in touch if you want to have a peck at this game. I'd really like to finish this some day! ------------------------------------------------------------- Game Title : SLURP Language : AMOS Started : November 1993 Completed : April 1994 - Lots of stupid bugs! Game type : Cartoon platformer This was my first ever game production in AMOS and what a major dribble patch. When the game is actually running under the AMOS PRo editor it's fine and the game trundles along at a reasonable speed. BUT when it's compiled using the original AMOS compiler or the new AMOS Pro compiler all hell breaks out. My problem is that no matter what I do to try and fix the errors it still fucks :-( Bugs included things like this ... * Password screen doesn't appear when compiled * Random crashes * Graphic corruption at odd times * 'Out of variable space' appears in the compiled version * Memory banks dissapear * Bobs go missing from the screen! As you can see this game is in major shit creak. What I need here is a really good bug disposal person. I have to admit that The game has been programmed really stupidly. I was trying to put the game into just procedures to make it look tidy! If you want to try out the compiled version it's free to you if you send me a blank disk to put it on (address at end of this doc). ------------------------------------------------------------- Game Title : <> Language : AMOS Started : <> Completed : <> Game type : Real life first person shoot 'em up (operation wolf style) The idea of making a game like "Terminator 2 : Arcade" and "Operation Thunderbolt" has been rolling around in my head for a while now. To me it seems pretty simple to program and I have a few ideas which I'm going to keep to myself at this moment. By use of the AMOS extension 'Styx' you would be able to access two mouse controls for two players at the same time! BUT the thing that I wanted to make this game different was by the use of some decent real life digitised characters. I've got loads of mates who want to pose for the game and strut about infront of the camera with guns. My only prob is the time it's going to take me to save for a decent digitiser. I've just blown £260 on a CD-ROM and some CD's for my A1200 and now I'm left with about £30! I've got the camcorder, can anyone lend me the digitiser? I'm after the 'Vidi 12 AGA Real Time' one. Does anybody have one for sale for under a £100 ??????????? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? If anybody wants to get together with me drop me a line to the address at the end of this doc. Please beear in mind that I don't have all day everyday to work on my games as I'm in the last year of school and the muther fuckin' teachers pile shit on you as if you have nothing else to do at home!! ------------------------------------------------------------- Now this is the part some of you may have been waiting for, my address :- Budda "Bradda" Crowborough Road Georgeham North Devon EX33 1JZ Also write to this address if you have any ideas you wanna share with me. Maybe we could get together and make something to make the public domain buyers wank themselves silly! Budda/NFA
