************************* ** STAR-LIGHT SOFTWARE ** * LATEST RELEASES * ************************* G2246 SPATIAL HYPERDRIVE ------------------------ This one is rather an old concept, but it is very playable. You're piloting a spaceship along a horizontally scrolling tunnel (extremely fast), whilst avoiding crashing into the walls. If you crash too often, you die. "Easy to play, difficult to master", as the saying goes. In two player mode, this one really gets the adrenaline pumping. G2247 F1 GP ED V3.11 -------------------- This is the very latest version of this popular accessory. G2248 KNIGHTS V2.42 ------------------- Knights is a two player "Dungeons & Dragons" type game, in the viewed from above style. The opposing players have to explore a common dungeon, killing the monsters, avoiding booby traps and picking up gems, potions and other things that seem to be left handily lying around. There are a wealth of options and an impressive choice of quests of varying complexities. The game has been very well thought through, with touches like, if you pick up something big, then you have to leave your sword in its scabbard. With its gooey sound effects and a wicked addictiveness, this is just great!! G2249 KNOCKOUT -------------- This one has got "PD selection of the month", in AF No81(Feb'96). An AMOS coded, view from above, car game (MicroMachines style). You're on a circular platform which is reducing in size, and the object is to ram your opponents off and be the single survivor. A simple game, but the ability to have upto 5 players at once, greatly enhances the gameplay. There is also a second game on the disk, where you play against three others, and have to try and shunt a ball into your own net (pretty- tricky). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for two players or more. G2250 MASTERBLASTER V2.21 ------------------------- MasterBlaster is basically a two player BomberMan clone, where you must lay bombs, collect the bonuses, and toast all your opponents to win. Extras in this version include an icon that allows you to push brick walls around, and a shop where you can cash in your coin icons and buy your favourite power ups. It's very similar to the original, and just as compulsive. This unregisterd version only supports three players, and a few of the better options are disabled, but it's still good fun. ** SHAREWARE ** G2251 TUBES V1.6 ---------------- Tubes is a PD version of the famous Pipemania, the object of the game is the same as ever, having you positioning water pipes within a time limit, to allow the water to travel as far as possible, without spilling everywhere. This version comes with the additional intrest of some clever bonus levels, including a slide puzzle pipe game, and a version of Tetris using tubes, called Tubetris.Excellently executed and good fun to play. ** SHAREWARE ** G2252 POWEROIDS --------------- Poweroids is a 1-4 player Asteroids style game, with raytraced graphics, and requires an 020 processor and 1 MEG of chip ram. Several other games are also on the disk, including Monsters Of Terror, Zerberk, Stardef, and MineRunner. ** SHAREWARE ** G2253 INCINERATOR ----------------- This is a 3D demo version in the style of "Missile Command". You must defend your city against the incoming missiles, before you get your chance to attack the opposing city, in a game that is both deep and colourful. G2254 MANGLED FENDERS --------------------- Mangled Fenders is an overhead view, 6 player demo derby game, where the objective is to destroy all of the other vehicles, by crashing into them. All the players are awarded cash credits, the amount is dependant upon the order of finish. There are different types of vehicles, so you can find the one that suits you best. Stock your arsenal and blast your way to victory, with upto 5 of your friends. U2255 HIPPO PLAYER V2.22 ------------------------ Hippoplayer is renowned as one of the best music players on the Amiga, and this latest version features more or less everything you could ever want. Not only does it multi-task happily, it plays songs one after the other, repeats them, fast forwards etc, it even supports PC music-formats in 8,16,or more channels(formats such as S3Ms or XMs. Hippoplayer is most certainly a definitive music player, just don't be put off by the wealth of options on offer. ** SHAREWARE ** U2256 DC PLAYER V1.7 -------------------- This is a very different player to the others on offer. Firstly, it supports many types of CD drive, including CD32, with W/B, and PCMCIA drives as well as SCSI. With this one you don't get a GUI, instead you get a small icon that moves screens with you. It takes a while to get used to the controls, but once you have worked out how to use things like the shuffle feature, then DC player1.7 is a really original and versatile player. U2257 3D PRO ------------ This is a 3D stereogram picture generator, which is fun, and user friendly. The tutorial is brilliant, showing you exactly where to click, and when, and there's a simple, but fun paint program for you to construct your masterpieces. You can design your own stereogram pattern, and there's an array of sample images and patterns to choose from. Since the patterns and pictures are all created in IFF format, you can create them in your favourite paint package and then load them into 3D PRO. Also creates animations in IFF (to be loaded into any external animation program). Simply a great piece of software, due in the main, to the features and ease of use. U2258 MCD PLAYER ---------------- MCD player is small and simple, yet offers many features. There is the ability to edit the list of CD titles and program the order of play. According to the author, this is the only release of the program that will be made, but this is a CD player with lots of frills and none of the fuss. U2259 Y.A.C.D.P V1.2 -------------------- This is the program that is often supplied with CD hardware, it is one of the simplest players to use, and yet has the ability to play most SCSI drives. Infact it is probably the best player to have around as a backup because you can almost guarantee that it will work. As well as the ability to change devices, units and luns, you can program or shuffle the tracks. YAC is as good as ever. M2260 SCION V4.09 ----------------- This is a specialised database for keeping track of genelogical information. It features a full, easy to use interface, version 4.09 is a substantial upgrade over the earlier version. The program correctly handles multiple marraiges, "unconventional"marraiges, adopted children, and unmarried parents. Other features include on-screen ancestor and descendant charts, extensive on line help, and multiple ARexx ports with extensive command set. AGA2261 C42 AGA --------------- Organic is the word for this demo. Butterflies flying across an electronic beach at sunset, cameras drifting and banking across desert sands, texture mapped flowers opening and closing, and babies kissing ? These guys are obviously computer wizzards, the code is top notch, and the music really kicks. All told, a stylish, brilliantly designed and original demo. AGA2262 SURFING ON A JAZZ WAVE (2 DISKS) ---------------------------------------- A top notch demo, that just oozes class from the opening, with the Motown diva looking sultry right at us set against a soul/jazz title sequence. The very well drawn, hi-res graphics are evocative in a way that manages to be both old-style and new-school, and the acid-jazz soundtrack is frankly astounding. Six tunes to choose from including, Surfing as a Space Groover, and A Travel in my Mind. As I said , "a top notch demo, from a top notch group". AGA2263 CONTROL(AGA DEMO)(2 DISKS) ----------------------------------- The winner of this summers GASP party in france. This demo showcases the vector worlds and new types of vector effects, that are only becoming possible due to coders becoming ever more clever at taking advantage of the Amiga's hardware. You are taken on a drifting journey through a sparse space vector landscape. As you spin around the asteroids and alien structures, you occasionally stop to see wierd geometric shapes -translucent or morphing- slide around the screen. Throw in some great fractal landscapes with clouds, and a couple of fabulous dreamy pictures by Mon, and what you have is one darn good demo!! M2264 AQUASIM V1.0 ------------------ A fish tank for your Amiga? Yes, this is a complex simulation of a real aquarium, which requires you to set everything up, such as the amount of water, type of fish, new water, and feeding times. You also have to consider elements such as water PH and the age of the fish. The idea is to produce an environment that can support life, when you can switch to the screen to see your tank with all the little fishies swimming around. To run this last part requires an MUI. DM2265 RAW 9 ------------ The latest instalment of this disk mag weighs in with a large number of decent articles, and some very intresting topics such as wether raytracing pictures can be as creative as pixel-by-pixel drawn artwork. There's also a news section, a demo report, interviews, results and features. AGA2266 PIXELSTORM (AGA) ------------------------ This AGA slideshow dares to be different, and succeeds in being refreshingly alternative, in its choice of pictures. Check out Tyshdomos"Michael Jackson" caricature, and a few pictures by Toxic, are anything from cleverly exaggerated to immorally cartoony. If you want a slideshow with a difference then this is one to try. AGA2267 FRUITKITCHEN (AGA) -------------------------- FriutKitchen contains a slightly disappointing soundtrack, along with some original vector routines. To be honest it's a bit of a boring demo, that at times tends to look as though it has just been thrown together. That said, there is an excellent Doom-style routine, containing some nice camera work(including a 360 degree somersault). Not an all-time great, Fruit- Kitchen is still worth checking out. A2268 ITCHY & SCRATCHY 4 ------------------------ Welcome to Itchy & Scratchy, "a masterpiece of timing, conflict, pace, blatant injustice and outrageously violent slapstick". The animation is smooth and fluid, and the colours are big and bright. The whole spectacle lasts under 30 seconds, and you will spend another 30 seconds laughing. G2269 CARNAGE ------------- If ever there was a candidate for a shareware game that rips its tonsils out in screams of rage, begging to be played over a link, Carnage is it. A 2 player game played in a strange mazy combat area, find the power ups, avoid the droids, and hunt down your opponent. A tremendous game, and one that should be be played by link-fans everywhere. It is SHAREWARE, but ideas this good should be both rewarded and encouraged!! ** SHAREWARE ** G2270 SPRINGTIME ---------------- The aim of this game, is to twist and spin the gameboard, over all three axis' (x,y & z), to line up a spring with a cross. It sounds simple, but trying to think three dimensional against the clock is not easy. Add to this one way tiles, and sliding tiles etc and you have a very good puzzle game. Springtime is tremendous fun and a game that every puzzle addict should have in their collection. ** SHAREWARE ** AGA2271 PLANET M ---------------- This demo won first place at the SIH demo conference in Holland. This one will make you gasp in awe, raise your eyebrows quizzically, and still give you a laugh, with a stylishness and fluid approach that makes the production one of the best seen this year. The music is excellent, with dreamy, smooth intro music, and some funky robotic speech in the tranced-up main tune. Above all, this demo is fun. Take a trip to Planet M, you wont regret it.
