I found it didn't work for me (on two different systems) because he didn't use explicit paths for many of the files that have to be copied to create the boot disk. The system can lose track of files specified as coming from :DirectoryName rather than from DiskName:DirectoryName. This type of disk path error is fairly common in install scripts. If you strike problems in installing programs, and get an error message of the sort: "Can't find directoryA", then check whether the path is fully specified to the directory. If not, modify a copy of the script to include the full path to all relevant files, and try it again. This machine had 2MB ram on the HD controller. When I had the A2058 module fitted with 8MB ram and 2MB on the HD controller was removed, and returned, with he explanation that the machine was only capable of 9MB of ram if I did not want problems with some programs. I use the following programs: Final Copy, Final Writer and DynaCadd as I am mainly into geneology and design. Naturally I would prefer to have that, as present useless, 2MB working. As I am basically illiterate as to the internal workings of a computer you may be able to tell me why this is correct or a furphy. Thanking You, Allan Harris. [The A500/2000 models were made to only access 1MB chip and 8MB fast ram. Certain boards are available which get around the problem by being able to map their ram outside the Amigas normal range and so extend the limit but you can only do this with those boards (in other words, you still can't use the extra 2MB of "useless" ram you have). It may be theoretically possible for a hardware wizz to hack the extra ram into your system but it would be practically unfeasable to do so (too unstable, too much trouble, too expensive - in other words it would be cheaper and easier to purchase another ram board). -S] - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - John Collett would like to exchange points of view with anyone who has successfully done the following : 1 Explored Macintosh 'ftp' listings via Mosaic, Anarchie, or similar. 2 Extracted text, pics, etc. 3 Transferred them to Amiga using Mac-2-Dos (or any PD alternative) 4 Been able to handle them on the Amiga with no more problems than if they had been created on and for an Amiga.
