   Someone asked in Megadisc 29 about dial-in Internet access. This site
  appears to be the go. It's in NSW so STD users would only want to use it
  after dark (from Canberra to Sydney it's $4.80 per 30 minutes after 8pm -
  great for midnight hacking). It's not fully connected to Internet but
  recieves a feed of News (USENET) and Email every 12 hours. You cannot
  connect to the kralizec UNIX machine (a Sun running 4.1) from Internet, or
  from kralizec to other Internet sites via ftp, rlogin, telnet etc. You can
  email in/out, receive/post news, and request files from ftp sites via email
  (sorta like room service). You can also do all sorts of UNIX type things
  on the Sun while you wait for programs to compile etc. There are only two
  dial-in lines, (+61) 2-837-1183 (up to 9600 baud with CTS/RTS, MNP2-4,5
  etc).  There is another one that only goes up to 2400 baud but I don't know
  that number (it's listed on the system itself). It costs $50 to 'join',
  which gives you 50 hours of connect time ($1 an hour). This is quite nice
  when you compare it to Compu$erve which will happily give you (albeit full)
  Internet for $36 an hour. However, plan ahead with your money! On my Uni
  machines I can easily spend up to 40-50 hours a week!! This is the
  membership form I downloaded below.

                        KRALIZEC CONDITIONS OF ACCESS - 20 Jun 92

Membership of Kralizec is provided under the following conditions:

1. Deliberate cracking or crashing is forbidden, and will result in termi-
   nation of membership.

2. Usage fee is $1.00 per hour of connect time (as recorded in utmp),
   payable in advance, in multiples of $50. There is no joining fee, however
   the first $50 usage fee is considered a non-refundable donation. If the
   Kralizec service must be discontinued for any reason, unused portions of
   subsequent usage fees will be refunded. The system will warn you when your
   paid-up time is nearly over.

3. Filespace allowance is 1 Mb, with a hard limit of 1.5 Mb. If 1 Mb usage
   exceeded, you have 7 days to reduce your allocation below 1 Mb, otherwise
   you will be unable to write to your files. Maximum number of files is 1000.

4. Use of the Internet is for educational or research purposes, not commer-
   cial. Please be sensible in your use of this shared resource.

5. The contents of files owned by you are your responsibility only. Likewise
   for the messages sent by you. Zeta Microcomputer Software takes no respon-
   sibility for the legality or otherwise of any files stored on the system,
   and takes care of user files but takes no responsibility for any
   accidental loss or damage.

6. No guaranteed turnaround time for network send and receive messages. We do
   our best to keep E-mail and USENET operating, but most outages are outside
   our control.

7. Please keep background jobs to a minimum. That is, cron(1) & at(1) jobs
   are allowed, but keep them short-running, and run them at low priority
   using nice(1).

8. Zeta Microcomputer Software reserves the right to vary charges and to
   change conditions and service levels as necessary.

                        Procedure for gaining access

Upon receipt and acceptance of your application:

1.   Your account will be created using one of your preferred login names.
2.   A random password will be assigned.
3.   These will be mailed to your contact address with a Users Guide.
4.   Your 'connect time balance' will be set according to the amount of
     your cheque.

When you receive your confirmation letter, login using your name and assigned
password.
