    The two accompanying graphics by Peter Zielinski show you how to
  configure a 720 K NEC floppy drive (such as are found in old APC III
  computers) as an 880K Amiga drive, with diskchange included (ie, it
  works just like a normal Amiga floppy), using either the Commodore 1010
  drive controller (if you have a old dead one around) or Paul Chatfield's
  interface as featured on a previous Megadisc, and which is available
  from us for $40.

    Peter found out this info by getting the specifications from NEC
  themselves, and experimenting with the diskchange capability.

    The two pics show the controller boards of the two specific NEC
  drives, and where and how the jumpers need to be fitted. You require
  two soldered joints for the Diskchange capability, where you see
  "Install wire jumper for Diskchange" on the graphic.

    Where you see "Remove Link", this means to remove completely the
  jumper that you'll find at those particular configuration pins.


    Once you've done these small mods, you'll need a drive cable to suit
  the NEC drive - ie, a 34-way cable and a power-down converter cable to
  suit the NEC. These can be purchased from any PC spare parts
  distributor.


    Please note: when connecting power to the NEC drive from the 1010 and
  P Chatfield interfaces, observe +5 +12 and common connections before
  making the physical connection as incorrect connection may cause damage
  to the interface or the drive. You need some knowledge of electronics
  to make this mod work, as usual.
