Mark Meany, 12 Hinkler Road, Thornhill, Southampton, Hant's, England. Hi all, In my report on Devpac3 last month I forgot to mention the most impressive breakthrough of the lot! Monams ability to track a source file. You single step the code and monam steps through the source file at the same time. This has to be seen to be believed, I love it. Unfortunately, I have run into more problems with the editor! Genam, (though it's not called that anymore),has a tendency to die when deleting lines from a large text file. This comes with no warning. Pity! Loads of goodies this month! Both Blaine ( FM ) and Rick ( Treebeard ) have supplied some interesting Bob source. A great improvement on mine from a few months back, lack of imagination on my part I suppose. Dave Edwards has sent in a 6809 assembler along with a tutorial on writing your own ( when you get a few minutes spare ). Dave has also sent in a doc on Data Encryption, but I found a slight problem in the source found in the doc. I have modified it a little ( hope you don't mind Dave ) and come up with a competition at the same time. Read Dave file on Data Encryption, then look in the Tutorials directory. You will find source for a small program that prompts for a password. Enter the correct password and a message will be displayed. The message has been encrypted using Daves algorithm so there is no point looking for a copy of the password in the source. The first person to send me the correct decryption will receive a copy of the new Bantam AmigaDOS reference manual. There is no closing date on this compo, providing I'm still around and ACC is still going you will get your prize. The source for a programmers calculator has also been sent in. A very useful tool this looks. You can run the executable from this menu to see what I mean. Dave, you crack me up! Dave Shaw, ex-RAF... Sorry for not writing for a while. Will get round to it this week. Thanks for your help and as you can see you have caused me no end of fun and frustration! Fractals!!! A real head-banging month this has turned into. Thanks to Paul Kent for this source. One day I will get around to looking into this subject in more detail, but for the time being I'll just have to admire other peoples source. Axal, have started on map editor. Screen format now complete and allows width-height-depth of map to be defined prior to design. Have opted for 16x16 building blocks from which map is built up. The file format will have to include a number of chunks: Blocks - screen - screen - screen ------ The reason my source is a little thin on the ground this month is because I have been working on an educational program. Well, my daughter loves bashing the keys on this 'ol Amy so I decided to write a program for her to use. It's no good, I can't lie .... my wife forced me to write a program for my daughter as she is showing an interest in the computer. Well the program is almost complete. It's a game of-sorts and my daughter loves it! The source will be on next months disk, by which time I should have tidied the gfx up a bit an sorted out the last couple of bugs,HOWEVER!! the source is COPYRIGHTED to myself and Amiganuts,so allthough you may use and learn? from it,the source may NOT be used for any commercial use!! I learned a great deal from writing this program and am pestering my other half to come up with another idea. Also with any luck Blaine will have completed his project,so that's two fun progs for next month's issue. Finaly,if any member is interested,Amiganuts will be releasing a very good progy this year, called Intuisys. It is a full mutimedia authoring system which you can use for development of anything from a disk based magazine to an educational program. It is fully Arexx supported,IFF compatible and up to 65000 pages can be implemented. It also comes with a manual. You can set up 'KEYS' on screen which can run progs, display graphics, run Arexx macros, run Dos scripts, display text,go to next or chosen pages etc and it will even load/run the new OctaMED 8 channel music. Keys can be customized by importing IFF graphics direct from Dpaint. Each key can have its own colour palette and backdrop image etc etc etc. Release date & price is quite some time away yet, will let you know about this, when it's ready. Time to go, 'till next month 'Live fast, code hard and die in a beautiful way.' Mark. P.S. Hi to all you new members in New Zealand,Italy and the good 'ol U.S of A.
