S. Windmill, 15, Holt Farm Close, Holt Park, LEEDS, WEST YORKS., LS16 7SE 1/10/91 "Yeah, ya can 'ave an E for £15....." Oh sorry, just conducting a little bit of business there. I must apologize for not sending in any source, but as Raistlin keeps saying: a letter is better than nothing. ( Or as Confucius says: A butterfly is infinitely more beautiful than watching Manchester United play PAE Athinaikos) It was good to read a few new names in the last couple of issues of ACC, I was beginning to wonder whether there was only about ten people reading... Seriously, no matter what level of coding you are at, surely you can send SOMETHING in!?! I mean, look at me, I can't really code and I still send things in, if only to provide inspiration for other learners, proving what you can do with other people's code with a little imagination! Anyway, back to the main reason for me writing this crap. As I was looking in issues 14-16 I saw that there was a bit more support for the UNITY thing than I had realised at the time of writing the letter for ACC 14, when I said that perhaps Unity would have to come to an end. I had already written to the most interested people, notably Raistlin, who has been very enthusiastic about it all, to say that I would stop Unity. But as you will have probably seen by the intro that should have been on this disk, I changed my mind! I have only ever seen the European group Unity mentioned in one obscure German scroller, so I doubt if there will be any complaints over name clash! One thing has changed though, the conditions of entry and sort of thing I would like Unity to achieve: JUST BE MELLOW! Don't let things get you down, kick back and relax! Which brings me onto my next thing.......The MJC/Stolen Data thing..... To be honest, I don't really care what Mike or anybody else thinks about Stolen Data, or any other disk mag for that matter. I mean, who am I to say what people should and shouldn't like. And I would never go to Kreator and say "ooh, Mike Cross wrote shit about you" because that strikes me as an incredibly juvenile thing to do. I'm not in contact with Michael (Kreator), I just asked his help over a utility I wanted (hunk wizard, actually). (Thanks for Twintris by the way MJC, I'll send you a disk back in a couple days) I suppose in my initial Unity letter I was just trying (albeit clumsily) to get over the "don't worry, be happy" attitude. (Of course, serious discussion of certain topics is a helluva lot better than saying: "Oh aye the future of our world could be up shit creek but who gives a toss?") Okey dokey, serious stuff over with now. I think yellow is a cool colour for the ACC mag, just add a bit of blue and white and you've got a very nice looking football kit, thank you very much.... (We let Crystal Palace grab a last minute winner, just to put a bit of hope into Raistlin's fevered mind that Man Ure will still be top come next May...) Congrats to Mark on the new addition to his family!!! Oh yes Raist, I got 9 GCSEs at C or above when I left school... ;-) Which reminds me, how about the writers of ACC letters telling us what sort of course they are on if at college/uni/poly, or what sort of jobs they have??? You see, I'll have to apply to a Uni/Poly (yes, I know that the Polys merge) soon, and don't know whether to go for a BTEC HND, or a BSc Hons degree...... By the way, does anybody know of an Amiga version of COBOL? Sad I know, but seeing as I'm being taught it at college I might as well try and get it for a REAL computer... Right, I can tell you're all getting bored, so I'll wind up now... Let's see some more Unity stuff in future (or I may think nobody is that interested and finish it again!) Yours, (actually, that's a lie. I mean if I was REALLY yours - oh, doesn't matter...) Simon Windmill (Master Beat) P.S. - Does anybody actually LIKE Rugny Union?!? P.P.S. - Just to stem any arguments, just because I asked for info on poly/uni/college/working people, it doesn't mean to say I'm ignoring those at school, but I left there in '90! P.P.P.S. - Isn't 'BOTTOM' wonderful? The last one - I can't wait for the Twin Peaks sequel, 'Firewalk with Me', what about you Santhosh?
