15, Holt Farm Close, Holt Park, LEEDS, WEST YORKSHIRE, LS16 7SE 07/08/91 Yo what's up? Master Beat is in the house! Sorry, just a bit of summer madness. To call this summer IS madness actually, if you live oop north. Anyway, I KNOW I was asked by Mark to supply something Unity related for ACC 14, and of course, I didn't. For two reasons: i) I've been too busy playing Secret of Monkey Island, and ray-tracing with a demo of Real 3D (no save available, but I am still saving my finished pictures with ScreenX) ii) I was reading through various diskmags and spotted the name of a European group, called - you guessed it - Unity. So, either a name change is in order, or anyone who was interested in Unity can go ahead and work together without being given a name, which I would prefer. What do you think? I was interested in Mark's comments regarding MJC calling Stolen Data crap. Mark said he didn't think Mike had sais this, but I have since written to MJC and he has made his feelings perfectly clear - he doesn't like Stolen Data! Now, I personally bet that this has got something to do with PE (and we're not talking physical education here :-)) and I do think that they are given an unfairly hard time by Stolen Data, but I don't think the editors of Stolen Data are being malicious. I think we must all learn to laugh at ourselves, especially if we happen to play for Manchester United... (Hi Leon!) If Mark has included it, you will find the source for a diskmag type thing on this disk. Have a read at the example pages, and if you are interested in working on a diskmag then write to me. What I really need is people who will help prepare articles etc., as I will not have the time once I start my second year at college in September. It may seem like I'm just trying to get out of the tedious work, but somebody must do it, and I don't really think that I would have the free time or the willpower to do it. Besides, anybody who took this job up would get to read all the articles before anybody else... As I haven't seen ACC 14 yet, I don't know if anybody has corrected the bug in the Fast Noisetracker replay routine supplied by Nipper a while ago. If you didn't know, when a module has finished and restarts, the first track is played over and over again. I've corrected this and sent the new version to Mark. (Actually, it wasn't particularly difficult - I just added 1 line!) Note to Tech - Did you recieve my reply Neil? If you did, then you are taking a long time to reply! (Mind you, anybody who has written to me will know that I am not exactly the fastest letter writer. I'm too easily distracted by things like the amazingly cool, hype, mega, dope, ozric Real 3D. I NEED the full version!!!) Or maybe your reply back has been lost??? Has anybody started to compile a wish list for Santa yet? I think an A3000 will be very high on most Amigans list. (And we're talking COMMODORE A3000 here, none of this Archimedes crap (Hi Simon :-))) Here's my list: 1. A3000 2. A2000/A1500 with maths co-processor & hard drive 3. Hard Drive (any capacity, I'm not fussy!) 4. Extra memory 5. Maths FPU co-processor/accelerator board 6. A printer (even a mono nine pin will do) 7. A monitor/hi-quality TV with SCART (my eyes are nearly dead!) 8. Harlequin 24-Bit graphics board (or even HAM-E) 9. Another external drive 10. The love of a good woman (This isn't really number 10, relationships are more important than machines) Failing that, I suppose I could settle for a Cray super computer instead. For a more reasonable request, can anyone supply me with the PD game TWINTRIS? I have the original version of this program, without music and it's much more basic. Still bloody addictive though! I'll swap for any of my disks, I have about 200-odd PD disks (I think!) Or can anyone send me another PD game, BLOCK IT? (I would ask for the commercial version, Plotting from Ocean, but we don't want to encourage piracy, do we?) If anyone wants a good disassembling program, or if you've seen DisAsm and want something far more powerful that gives you ready to assemble Devpac source with nice labels, then I can recommend Re-Source. It's wonderful! Although it creates big source files when disassembling something with a lot of data (200k is not uncommon), I find it useful to look at other people's programs and pinch routines. I think that's about it. I'm outta here. Peace. P.S - TO ANYBODY WHO WAS WAITING FOR ME TO WRITE TO THEM - SORRY. I HAVE PULLED MY SOCKS UP (NOT LITERALLY) AND I HOPE THERE WILL BE NO LONG DELAYS IN THE FUTURE.
