Last Minute Changes to Maverick 4.00 and Special Parameter Notes ====================================================================== Configuration: A new option has been added - "DOS Delay". Sets the amount of time, in seconds, to wait between file access functions during parameter execution. Default value 4 seconds. This delay value is only necessary to prevent the occasional DOS requestor from popping up. AmigaDOS 1.3 users should set this to at least 1. AmigaDOS 2.0x users can set this to zero for most parameters. Copy screen: A completely new copy screen has been created for Maverick 4.00. The track display is larger and has been divided into separate source and target areas. During a disk copy, a green or blue plus sign indicates a good read or write and a red minus sign means a read or write error. To select new source and target drives, click the appropriate icon on each side. Bypass: OVERRIDE PARAMETERS ONLY! This new option will bypass the disk copy and proceed directly to parameter execution. You can select this option by pressing the 'B' key. You will be presented with a directory requester. Select the directory or disk where Maverick can find the program files it needs to modify. This option is ideal for those who already have the program installed on their hard disk or another floppy disk. If you plan to BYPASS to floppy disk, you should insert the disk BEFORE selecting BYPASS to ensure that it will appear in the directory requester. KeyDisk Decoder parameters must still be run in the normal fashion. ======================================================================= LEMMINGS Parameter Part 1: After you have run part 1, boot the Lemmings copy as you normally would. When the screen turns GREEN, insert the ORIGINAL Lemmings disk 1 and press the left mouse button. When the screens turns RED, re-insert the Lemmings COPY and press the left mouse button. After a few minutes, the screen will turn BLUE. Remove the copy. Reboot Maverick. Parameter Part 2: Select LEMMINGS Disk 1 Part 2. Before selecting "OK", set the source and target drives to the same drive. Select "OK" and insert the LEMMINGS COPY created by Part 1. When the parameter is completed, you will have a LEMMINGS disk 1 that boots much faster and bypasses the demo. ====================================================================== POPULOUS This parameter only works with the version included in the Sim City/Populous bundle pack distributed by Electronic Arts/Infogrames. Sorry! The other version is an even tougher nut to crack, but I'll keep trying! The "parametered" version of Populous will bypass the intro/menu screen and go directly to the game. NOTE: when the parameter ends, a message is displayed to not use Workbench to run the Populous backup, instead use IconX to execute a script file to run it through a CLI/SHELL. If you are autobooting Populous from floppy, the program will not load Workbench, but will instead execute Populous directly... KEYDISKDECODER An "Open Count" option has been added to the KeyDisk Decoder. If the parameter crashes during execution, trying increasing the count by 1 at a time until the parameter succeeds. If the program takes away control of the machine from KeyDisk decoder, try decreasing the count by 1 at a time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maverick is in a period of transition. The new Copy screen will, by version 5, contain all of the functions of the User Control Center. There will also be some support for user-selectable fonts. The Main screen functions MAY also be integrated into the Copy screen. We hope you enjoy the improvements to Maverick 4.00. Future improvements and additional utilities will appear in greater volume and frequency -IF- sales and interest justify the time and expense. So ... if you know people who have "borrowed" Maverick, encourage them to buy it and register. Support the products that you use and like or watch them fade into oblivion...
