BootMenu 3.4 Copyright © 1993 by WolfSoft, All rights reserved. NAME BootMenu - multiple startup-sequences (V36) SYNOPSIS C:BootMenu DIR,TIMER/K/N,NOTIMER/S,MODEID/K FUNCTION Allow executing of different startup-sequences on a startup. The original startup-sequence should be renamed to Startup-Sequence.Original, the other different startup-sequences should be located in the drawer S:BootMenu and can be of any name. The startup-sequence provided with BootMenu will replace the original startup-sequence. When BootMenu is started you're presented a list of choices. These choices can be selected by either mouse or keyboard, the underscores donate the key to press for that choice. NOTES If T: is assigned to a physical device and you reboot, or shutdown your machine in any of the other startup-sequences you will have a BAD SECTOR on your device. This is because the OS was unable to close a temporary file created by C:Execute. EXAMPLE Ed "S:BootMenu/Just a Shell" Type in: NewShell CON:0/0/640/200/AmigaShell EndCli >NIL: Now try BootMenu. INPUTS If a directory is not specified the directory called S:BootMenu is opened as default. DIR: Directory to search for scripts. TIMER: Specify how long the program should wait before loading S:Startup-Sequence.Original, default is 10 seconds. NOTIMER: Wait for user input indefinitly. MODEID: Hexadecimal display id. Lores display's will not function properly. Examples: 8000 Hires 8020 Super-Hires 11000 NTSC Lores 19000 NTSC Hires 8004 Hires Lace 39024 VGA Productivity 99000 DblNTSC Hires RESULT Error!: You need Amiga Kickstart 36 or higher to run this. S:BootMenu/: object not found (Or the specified directory) You need to have a directory called S:BootMenu. BootMenu: wrong number of arguments Check the template with your arguments. AddPart: argument line invalid or too long Err, whoops, it could happen, but it shouldn't. OpenScreen: Error Probably wrong monitor files installed in DEVS:Monitors, if you have a VGA monitor this directory should at least contain: VGAOnly and Multiscan. !! BootMenu 3.2 requires DblNTSC instead of Multiscan. MODEID: bad number The argument was not a hexidecimal number. If you're low on memory and the program fails it might produce an error, but not always. BUGS Do not have more startup-sequences than the screen size will allow, you might get some very unexpected results. (Not tested) If you reboot your machine in any of the startup-sequences a temporary file in T:, created by C:Execute, will not be closed. This will almost definitly cause a BAD SECTOR!! (This won't matter if T: is assign to RAM:) Workbench 2.0 & 2.1 have no DblNTSC monitor, so BootMenu can't use a VGA monitor using either Workbench. (Will be fixed) Strange image on a VGA monitor, BootMenu needs DEVS:Monitors/VGAOnly and DEVS:Monitors/Multiscan. !! BootMenu 3.2 requires DEVS:Monitors/DblNTSC.
