An introduction to the Amiga Graphic Artists'   Special Interest Group  Nik Vukovljak  ¿? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿? The A.G.A. Sig is a group of people that have a particular interest in the graphics on the Amiga, both 2D and 3D, anywhere from 16 colours to 16 million colours, in any resolution. This special interest group has started life as a SSCUG Graphics Sig (South Sydney C= user group), but we have since decided to open our doors to people not necessarily wishing to join the SSCUG. The group is based in Kirrawee where we meet usually every month, but our members are from all over Sydney. If you have a car there is no problem. If not, something could possibly be arranged.  Interests Most of our members so far have avid interest in the 3D graphics on the Amiga and that is why the most popular program amongst us is Imagine by Impulse. In the past few months however, with the growing membership the number of users of Real 3D is growing and some of our members have also acquired Aladdin 4D. So, right now it looks like we're a pretty exclusive 3D modelling/rendering club. Not so. A lot of us still use 2D programs like DPaint, Opal Paint (quite a few of our members own this fine product), etc. to enhance or even create our artwork. The Sig has also acquired programs such as ADPro and Image Master for our library for image processing purposes. Still, we don't just sit in front of the computers all day and look at the programs counting down until finished rendering. The meetings are a social event as well and a wide range of mainly graphics related topics are discussed ( O.K. so we talk about Star Trek too! ).  Aims Our aim is to build up our membership and through the money raised open up a Graphics only BBS. ( We have now reached this goal!! ) Also, I would like the group to eventually produce a Demo tape of our work (hopefully at least some of it in 24 bit), which would show what we can do and could be used by members to show off their talent.  Membership Aaah, so MONEY's involved! Well, YES. Setting up a BBS involves a sizeable investment and none of us have won Lotto as yet (at least I haven't). The BBS would definitely be worth the money (as is the Sig itself) since it would contain lots of Graphics related files not previously available in Australia (objects, tutorials, maybe some textures, DEM files possibly, etc.) So, how much are we asking for? Not all that much really. Full membership - $20 p.a. These fees make you an A.G.A. Sig member (wow!). The full BBS access will cost you a bit extra i.e. $5 ( so we can keep the phone line). There will be new files coming in all the time. We will also not keep too many files on that are available elsewhere. BTW, Non-A.G.A. Sig members will have access to the BBS but at a higher price in order to have a complete file and mail access. All the information about the membership to the BBS is in the Welcome Bulletin. Ok, so what if you know somebody that would be interested, but doesn't have a modem. Well, they will be able to get the files from the Sig via a similar deal as the members with modems, i.e. become a member and you can have all these files! ( $25 annual membership + full file access ) Well, I hope I've got you interested and even if you aren't maybe you know somebody who would be. If so, then please pass on this text file.
