WORDWORTH 2 Review by  Jason King  Bio-pic:-I am 18 years of age and fortunate enough to be employed at the moment. My family owns two computers, an Amiga 500 with a 1.8Mb ram expansion and an external floppy drive and I also recently decided we would buy an Amiga 1200 and have done so. The old 1.2 500 was starting to show its age slightly (I don't know how I could have lived without a hard drive). I have recently been playing a lot fewer games than I used to, and have started to learn a lot more about this wonderful machine named "Amiga".  ¿? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿? As I said before I have moved away from games, so I decided it was about time to get a good commercial word processor - enter Wordworth version 2. When you first open the rather sturdy box you are greeted with:-  a) 6 Disks 1. Wordworth 2. Worworth Printer Fonts 3. Agfafonts 1 4. Agfafonts 2 5. Thes(aurus) 6. Dict(ionary)  b) 351 page Manual  c) Registration form  d) Function key inlay card Now I should mention the system requirements and features as they will give you an idea of the power of this program. * Workbench 1.3, 2.0, 3.0 * 1.5Mb free memory * Hard drive or two floppy drives * It also supports AGA Modes * Intellifont technology * 17 Compugraphic fonts included in package capable of being scaled from 3 to 800 points+ (which is over 11 inches high) * English Dictionary and Thesaurus * Capable of saving and loading in many formats.eg. ASCII Text, IFF Text,Wordperfect,Protext,Prowrite,RTF(Rich Text Format), Microsoft Word(MSDOS). * Ability to incorparate graphics with automatic word alignment After removing the disks from their packet, I then proceded to install the program onto my hard drive. As I am new to this area of computers, I need all the help I can get, and after reading the instructions I installed the program without a problem. Although you must REMEMBER to boot from your hard disk not from your Wordworth program disk. By the way the program takes up about 4Mb of space. As Notepad is the only other program of this type I have ever used, when I booted up Wordworth 2 I was totally amazed by the professional looking screen that greeted me. The screen layout is very neat and gives the program a modern look. Digita (the writers of Wordworth2) advertise that the screen has the "Workbench 2" look even under Workbench 1.3. The toolbox which runs down the left side contains many tools for document formatting and printing, etc. This saves time by not having to go to the menus all the time. Another good feature here is the help tool, which brings up a requester containing a list of most commands contained in Wordworth. From here you can get help on any of these items, just like a manual on a disk. As Wordworth supports the new AGA modes, you can have from 2-256 colours on screen, enabling you to import 256 colour pictures into your documents, but as you can imagine it uses a lot of memory. Even with 2Mb of ram I do frequently get the dreaded "out- of-memory" requester. And while we are on the subject of pictures, Digita have included 11 pieces of clip-art including 4, 16 colour examples. I have read that the printing features on the first version of Wordworth left something to be desired, but believe me it has been rectified in this version because the first time I printed a document my jaw dropped to the floor, the quality is amazing, we're talking glossy magazine type quality here. Unfortunately the price of this type quality is speed, with a page taking over 10 minutes to complete, but it's definitely worth the wait. The only problem I had was that my printer kept skipping the bottom of the page and throwing the pages all out of alignment. Warning- if your printer has a perforation skip facility it must be turned off as it effects the page alignment. As I said before, the package includes 17 Compugraphic Fonts which can be scaled without distortion by the user very easily. You can also import fonts from outside sources eg.Public Domain libraries, just have a glance through Megadisc's Fonts disks list and you will find quite a variety of Typefaces available. There is even a program supplied to install the fonts in the appropriate drawer. I have read many reviews about Wordworth 2, and they have all said it is one of the best, if not the best word-processor on the Amiga at the moment. But as this is the only Amiga word processor I have ever used, let alone owned I can not offer an educated comparison, but let me assure you that if you decide to purchase Wordworth 2, you won't be disappointed, It is an excellent program.  ¿? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿*? 35 ¿?
