1 OPTIONS

Save game, select multi-player option and all that sort of gear.

2 SPY

Send a captain to spy an enemy town.

3 MAKE ALLIANCE

Tells a captain to make alliance with a chosen town. It costs,
though: any excess objects you carry are offered as tribute.

4 TRADE

Send a captain into a village and swap food he carries for
items produced by the villagers and vice versa.

5 QUERY MODE

Select this, point the pointer at an object, animal or human and
it will tell you all about them in a pop-up textwindow.

6,7,8 POSTURE:PASSIVE/NEUTRAL/AGGRESIVE

Very important is the posture mode. If you want to be friendly and
send a captain into a town in Aggressive mode then things won't
probably work out too well. If you're steaming in for a fight in
Passive mode then that isn't too clever either. There are so many
different situations you'll meet, and you sometimes have to think
quite hard about what posture to adopt. A lot of the actions you
perform, from dropping food to trading, are dependant on the
posture setting.

9 GO HOME

Stops a captain and his men in their tracks and disbands them - each
going home to his town of village.

10 TRANSFER MEN

Transfers troops from the control of one captain to another.

11 DROP FOOD

Tells a captain to dump this food onto the ground. You see it on
the close-up map, and it can by picked up by another captain later.
A strategic supply dump!

12 UN-EQUIP

Just like drop food, but refers to weapon and stuff.

13 GET FOOD

Tells the captain to pick up food.

14 SUPPLY FOOD

Select a location that needs food and you highlighted captain will
keep making trips there with tasty morsels for the inhabitants.

15 ATTACK

This is the stuff!

16 DE-RANK

Disbands certain types of troops (depending on your posture).
Got some wimps? Right - off they go.

17 INVENT

Want a catapult? This is the option to creat it..

18 RECRUIT TROOPS

Again dependant on posture, you can pick up differing numbers
of men from a settlement.

19 SEND CAPTAIN

If you've found (or invented) any boats then this will allow your
captain and his men to get in the boats and cross the water.

20 EQUIP

Gets your chaps kitted out with lots of lovely hardware..
