If ya want to find out more, read the following article! That text will be provide you with generell informations about phone companys and secrets and teach you several ways to get use to the world of Phone fraud. It is written for beginners, so it wont teach an ol` Phreaker much news. First off all, what is Phreaking. The word Phreak means Phone+Freak. A Phone Freak... That means a guy who is crazy on his telephone ;). Generelly a Phreak is someone who uses the phone system fraudently. Here we go... The probably most popular and spreaded form of phone fraud is the Blue Boxing. A blue Boxer uses Frequencies in order to get access to the operator system. A operator is someone who works for a phone company. For example At&t. The regular operators uses that frequencies in order to built internal and external calls without costs. So an Blue Boxer just has to have that frequencies and blast them into the line. In order to do so he has first of all get a phone line to that company of which he has the frequencies. That number has to be a toll free number. Toll free because he dont want to pay for his call (you can use a normal number also but you would have to pay the call yourself). An example fo a german MCI Toll free number is 0130810085. As soon you have established the connect you have to make a so called Break. With a break you tell the system that the current call should be hang up but the line should still be there. That means that you have the control now over the toll free line. You are able to dial a number now by yourself with the right frequencies. A break by the way always has to have 2 tones. But a list of some frequencies will follow later. Well, after the break you have to tell the system if you want to make a national or international call. Note: If you call from germany an american toll free line, a call to america is national! Then follows the number and then last but not least a tone which tells that the number is over. All in all it looks like that... 1.Call toll free line 2.Send Break 3.Send national or international tone 4.Number 5.End tone Note: Step 2-4 goes in one step in good programms. If you want to end your call but make another one just pick up your phone and send a 2nd break. You dont have to dial again. Thats really practical. Some good things about Blue boxing are that you can handle it very easy and its wide spreaded. But the phone companys arent that stupid as the most peoples think. In America for example you wont find many Blue Boxers. If you live in a digital phone system DO NOT Blue Box, only if you live in a Analog phone systems. But a different way of Blue Boxing is just record the tones and go to a public phones. It really works. You can get Dialers for public phones in the scene very easily. A good Software Dialer is for example Unlimited Access. And now follows a list of all frequencies you need for blue Boxing (I wont tell you only about theory but everytime and also give you the practical informations!) Clfwd 2600+2400 Seize 2400+2400 (Break) 1 700 +900 2 700 +1100 3 900 +1100 4 700 +1300 5 900 +1300 6 1100+1300 7 700 +1500 8 900 +1500 9 1100+1500 0 1300+1500 (Dial Tones) KP1 1100+1700 KP2 1300+1700 ST 1500+1700 (1 = a; 2 = b; st = c) A complete dialing format would look like that: Country code | a 49 0 652576185 c -end of number | | int call number That's enough about Blue Boxing now, lets talk about a 2nd also very popular form of phone fraud thats called Calling Card. What is a Calling Card ? A calling Card is pretty much the same as a normal credit card, the difference is that you can use a calling card only for building phones. Using a Calling Card that is not your own is very easily coz of the way they are used. If you want to build a Call with a Callin Card you just have to call up the phone company by using again a toll free number. For example for Germany you dial 0130 0010 for reaching the At&t operator. Then you jut tell them the number of your calling card number and the number you want to dial. An American Calling Card (short: CC) has always 14 digits (American phone copanys are Sprint, MCI, At&t). The first four are the code, the last then are your phone number. For example: area code | 1234 709 123 2344 | | code phone number As meantioned before after telling the telling the CC number you give them the number to call. Thats the lot. You dont have to tell them your name or something like that. By the way, a special form of a Calling Card is a Virgin card. Thats a stolen Calling Card that has never been used by anyone fraudently. Bad things about the Calling Cards are that they usually dont last longer as a week and you have to get always new ones... Yes it is !! That should be enough about the Calling Cards stuff for now. One more last funny thing to add. If you want to get a very nice souvenir from At&t just call them and tell them that you are interested in getting a Calling Card and that they should MAIL you a subscription formular. It will be a nice surprice! Check it out dude! Lets switch to our next subject. Now we are going to chat about so called PBX systems and Loops. A PBX is a system that you can call from wherever ya like. From home, public phone, from neighbour... A PBX is nothing else then kind of a Voice Box. The systems wait for you typing a code over your digital number pad on your phone. Then you will get a free line and are able to call a number you like. Thats really easy to understand, isnt it ? To make it more abstract: x ---> l ---> y | | | You the loop the number you are trying to dial A PBX can also be a system that gives you the ability to call American 800 (toll free) numbers from Germany. But examples are following later... A Loop has always two numbers. It can be compared with the ports of a mailbox. Every port can be called by one person. The two persons can chat in that loop now. Sounds silly that two people call a loop in order to chat together, eh ? But you dont have to give away your private number by calling a loop, which could be a risk. And you can use a Loop for conference calls, but conferences will follow in some chapter below. You have learned a lot by now... but there is still more to come... Now we are going back to the Blue Box. Now you will read something about Advanced Blue Boxing. To be more exact, about operator codes. Operator codes are exspecially made for operators in order to call other operators. It is pretty simple (if you know how it works). The great problem is that if you use operator codes in order to chat with operators you have to be able to act and behave like such an operator, coz they believe in you beeing an operator! But what are the reasons for calling operators you may think. Well, by calling special informatin services for operators you can get informations about nearly everything. There are very much operator codes so i wont give you a list here, just look out in the scene for my textfile called EuroboxI, there you can find a complete list for At&t operator codes. I am going to explain you the format on the example of the Directory Assistance. You can call the Directory Assistance in order to get for example adresses from people and their phonenumbers and so on. area code | a 2 201 131 c | | line directory assistance That will give you the Directory Assistance... The line digital is not important for you right now. Just remember, it can be 0-9. 201 is an American area code. You need the area code from that area of which you need the information. That should be quite clear. 121 or example gives you the Emergency Interruption operator. Also very useful. Now finnaly we made it! The last chapter of this journey. Conference Calls. That subject is not easy to explain, but lets give it a try. For a conference call you need the following things. 2 (!) loops, 2 lines, a way to make free calls (blue box, cc,...) and good nerves. What is a Conference Call. A Conference Call is a call in which many Peolpe can take part. That means that up to 15 people can speak at once! Just imagine! First thing you have to do is to call a At&t Aliance Conferencing number. You get that from the At&t operator. The Aliance Conf. operator now need to know the way you want to bill the conference call. Now you give him one port of a loop and say that you want to bill the call to that number. The operator now believes that this is YOUR home number. In order to proof that he will call you back. That means that he will call the port of the loop you gave him. You now just have to wait for the operator calling the loop while you are waiting in the other port number. Then he well think its your home number. Now you have to tell him how many conference ports do you want to have. 15 are the maximum. Now you have to tell the operator that you want to have the conference control. Otherwise you would have to give the numbers of the people you want to have in the conference to the operator. The operator gives you then the control and hangs up. You are alone now. Over the digital pad of your phone you are able to control the whole thing now. You can add numbers, pass the control and so on. But the operation is not finished yet! You have to transfer the conference call that you have on your loop now to another loop! Thats because At&t is checking the conference call and if they notice that its a loop they will shut the conference down. Would not be so good. All you have to do is to call a loop on your other phone line (you have to have two if you want to built a conference call). Now you add to your conference the port2 of the loop which you have called with your other phone line. Now you just pass the conference control to the 2nd loop. You can now hang up your first line. You have the conference control now on your 2nd line! Great, isnt it! Well, that was probably a bit different to understand, just read it once more, should be not that big problem. We have made it!
