³¼COMPFAIR '91¼ ¹ This kind of exhabition is arranged every year in Budapest. (Hungary) It took place at the BNV (Budapest's international fair) from 15th to 19th October. This is a bit like CeBit, or AmiExpo. This event luckily was at the same time as our class outing. You have to know, our class is learning to be programers, so everybody (except some girls) were intrested in CompFair. We started from Gyor at 7 o'clock, and arrived to Budapest at 10 o'clock in the afternoon. First we stopped our trip in the centre of our capital. We got 2 hours to do whatever we wanted to. So I and my friend Lado started to hit the town. As the main event we used the subway at least 10 times without any tickets. It was very dangerous bcoz there are so many conductors, and the fine is very high. But this time we didn't have any problems with the conductors. All in all in those 2 hours we visited nearly all the big events in Budapest. The next stop with the class was the CompFair. The weather was really bad, it was raining. The entrace fee was quite low. (50 Ft = 0.75 USD) At the gate some guys gave us info sheets and stickers. At the BNV's place there are several huge rooms. I think the territory of the biggest one was at least 100x200 meters. Two of these rooms were used for the CompFair and some others for the non-computer exhabitions. We started our tour in the smaller room. Wow! Inside the weather was great, only the noise level was a bit too high. There were mainly PC,Fax,Phonesystem etc. stands, I have seen only one Amiga stand. On the Pc's mainly run only two kind of software: Either VGA slideshows or boring book keeping etc. programs. But of course there were some digitizers. By the way the best one run under Windows and the digitized color picture displayed in a window, which was moveable, magnifyable. (as in WorkBench) But the best thing I saw were some beautiful girls with mini skirts, and skate. They gave us sheets again, but this time we were happy bcoz we talked a bit to them. There was an really interesting stand where I saw some amigas. On an Amiga3000 the anti lemming demo was running, on a Amiga2000 some shot them up games were played with a revolver-joy (I don't know its real name). Some new Amiga500+ and disks and casettes were for sale. I and Lado bought 2-2 casettes, bcoz they were very cheap.(About 1 USD) A democompetition was arranged here also, but the result published next day, so I don't know it. Some demos were shown on a big Philips TV. (about 150cm). Our demo -Ray Of Hope2- was also shown, but at the very long grettings list the guy in the front of the Amiga made a reset, so Majic 12's show finished very fast. After that we went to the other room. But before we bought a hambuger and a coke. It was really nice to eat hambuger and drink cola in the rain. In the second room there were the bigger companies' stands. For example IBM, APPLE, STAR. We saw a silly stand with a computer on the ceiling, in an aquarium, on a Mercedes sportcar etc. At the STAR's place we received blue luftballons from a very nice girl. I asked a men at IBM for a blue rose, but he hadn't any for me because others had taken them already. At the centre of the room there was a laser screen, but we didn't find the projector. The prices were relatively low compared to normal prices in Hungary, but quite high compared to the AmiExpo for example. (660 USD for an Amiga500) When we were at the CompFair the most of the scene dudes were at school, so I didn't met anybody. We passed 2 hours here, and then we started to our last target called EGER. ²Written by ³Avantage/Majic12¹
