BEFORE YOU START READING THIS ARTICLE, PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE WRITTEN IT A 
VERY LONG TIME AGO (IN MAY I THINK), SO THERE ARE A FEW THINGS IN IT THAT MAY
NOT BE RIGHT ANYMORE. PLEASE FORGIVE ME, I WAS TOO LAZY TO CHANGE THIS LONG
ARTICLE. (I´VE DONE A FEW CHANGES, BUT NOT VERY MANY.) FOR EXAMPLE, U2 IS NOT
MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE ANYMORE, BECAUSE TO ME THEY´VE LOST A LOT OF THEIR
ORIGINALITY, ENTHUSIASM, AND CREDIBILITY. ESPECIALLY BONO HAS BECOME TOO SELF-
SATISFIED. I STILL LIKE LISTENING TO U2, BUT IT´S NOT THE SAME ANYMORE...

                       U2 - A Rock Legend

I decided to write about U2, because it's my absolute favourite band, and I
think, it's also the world's best band!

At first I'm gonna give you a short introduction of the band-members:

  * Paul "BONO" Hewson:(Vocals) Born on May 10th, 1960 in Dublin.
  * Dave "THE EDGE" Evans:(Vocals,Guitar) Born on Aug.8th, 1961 in Dublin.
  * Adam Clayton:(Vocals,Guitar) Born on Mar.13th, 1960 near Oxford.
  * Larry Mullen junior:(Drums) Born on Oct.31st, 1961 in Dublin.


THE STORY:

May 6th, 1960: Over the USSR a US-Spyplane was shot down. Codename of the plane
was... U2.

About 18 years later Larry Mullen Jr., pupil of the Mount Temple School, was
searching for members to found a band. This was how all began...

U2 first went on tour in 1978. Their first single "Out Of Control" was released
in 1979. In the years 1981/82 they had big success with tours in the U.S. In
1983 U2 released the "WAR"-album. I'm sure you all know the rebel-song "Sunday
Bloody Sunday", which should become one of the most famous U2-songs later. In
this year also the legendary "RED ROCKS"-Concert took place in Arizona. 1984:
Worldtour. 1986:Tour for AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL. The successful album "THE
JOSHUA TREE", released in 1987, contains famous songs like "Where The Streets
Have No Name", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", or "With Or
Without You". And in 1988/89 the film and the album "RATTLE AND HUM" appeared.
The film was made to satisfy all fans who couldn't visit a concert of the
JOSHUA-TREE-Tour; and it also attempted to represent a band in a transistional
stage.
And now, after a long period of waiting, the latest U2-album "ACHTUNG BABY"
was released. you can't imagine how I was looking forward to it. No wonder, I
waited for two years, since "RATTLE AND HUM". When I first listened to "ACHTUNG
BABY", I noticed that the music of U2 has changed. And I think it became EVEN
BETTER than before(!). If I just think of "The Fly", "Even Better Than The Real
Thing", "Ultra Violet", or "Until The End Of The World" I start to rave.
The only thing that maybe is a bit negative is, that there are no rebel-songs
like on "RATTLE AND HUM"; nearly all songs on "ACHTUNG BABY" are love-songs.
But I don't mind. What it really depends on is the music. And that is
fantastic.		ALLE ACHTUNG, BABY!!!


Finally I have to say the following words:

I know many people who say U2 are shit. Those people are just too lazy to think
when they listen to music, or too stupid to accept music that doesn't sound
like that assembly-line-sound. Okay, everyone likes other kinds of music, but
many people just like music because it's in the charts. If you don't like U2,
just listen to "ACHTUNG BABY" twice or three times, and you're gonna LOVE them!

This is definitely not the ultimate U2-history, coz I didn't investigate so
much before writing it, but I've done my best. I hope I didn't bore you.
