2Holo-games ³-----------------------------------²«Holo-games»³-----------------------------------²By:¹ Oxide/Sonic² ³History:² Everyone can still remember those old Don Bluth's coin-ups that were the very first games using Laser technic. ³Dragon's Lair² is still the most widely sold coin-up in the history and it was sold to countries all over the world worth of 30 million dollars in one month! Now,after 10 years of waiting some- thing shocking has hit the Coin-up scene. The producer of those laser technic based games is back with Holo-games! The man behind the first Holo-game ³Time Traveller² is 37 years old Rick Dyer. His career started when he was only 16 years old boy. 1978 he was develo- ping Mattel Intellivision - videogames, but soon he formed his own research and devopement company. Dragon's Lair isn't the first famous game he did. His company is behind old games like ³Pac-Man², ³Galaxians², ³Star Gate² and ³Defender². In year 1985 he had plans to create a speak understanding home videogame called Halcyon, which was going to compete with Atari's leading Videogames. Nowadys Halcyon project is nearly dead, but you can never be too sure... ³Time Traveller:² The Time Traveller-project started in December 1990. 36 actors and 60-70 other people worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 3 months. Project cost 2 million dollars, so It must be the most expensive game in history. Time Traveller is licenced by Sega, because Rick's company hasn't been selling games for about 5 years. Many magazines have been advertising the first holo-game - ³Time Traveller² - as a Hologram-game. This new system has really nothing to do with those real holograms. Machines using real Hologram technic are nowadays still too expensive and clumsy for games. Full coloured game characters look very 3D and they can be watched from different viewpoints. One major difference between real holograms is, that you can not see throught all things and characters in fake Hologram view like in real hologram view. Maybe the most important thing in Holo-games' technic is its another step closer the 3d world. In next 5 years we can probably see some really stunning 3d-games. Time Traveller has already sold worth over 20 million dollars. Good luck dudes and Time Traveller coin-ups also to arcadehalls of Finland!
