TF01 3,The Pocket Books Insider 4,by Colin Gunn THE POCKET BOOKS INSIDER -------------------------- (November 1995 - April 1996) ------------------------------ by Colin Gunn --------------- All you regular readers are probably wondering where The Pocket Books Guide has disappeared to. Well, from this issue, we are going to try something different. Due to the size of the book guide (it has now reached over 100K!) I thought it would be an idea to do a regular column devoted to the latest books out now or due out in the coming months. But don't worry, if you want the complete guide (EVERY book released by Pocket including short descriptions/synopses), it is still available direct from us on a new disk currently under production. Basically this new disk will collect together the larger of the two guides, Fan Club and The Pocket Books Guide, and will also include all of the smaller of the guides i.e. Ship Guide, Bantam Guide etc. and will be released to order. I.e. what ever time of the year you order it, at that point in time it will be updated to reflect that date, so it will always be the most upto date guide available. With this new guide I'll be listing the books in their release date order, so that you can see what is due out each month. Highlights to look out for in this schedule is of course the return of none other than Captain James T. Kirk in William Shatner's second Trek novel THE RETURN. Set after the events in his first book, the Borg play a major part in this story as they bring back to life the recently departed Captain to enact revenge on Picard and his crew. Also the Romulans play a large part in the plot. Released in April 1996. A little closer is the long awaited coffee-table book THE ART OF STAR TREK. This is a beautifully illustrated book showing many unseen paintings from the Final Frontier. Also included are the pre- production designs for the starship Voyager. A must for true fans. But beware the price is £35.00. Of course, this column (and its predecessor) would not be possible without the invaluable help of Matthew Parker at Pocket Books. (All dates are subject to the publisher, and may vary. Amendments will appear in the next issue).
