HARDCORE - REVIEW çddf,faa,afa,aaf,faf,ffa,aff ³-------------------------------------- ¾Hardcore For The Masses Vol 2 - Review ¢By²:¹ Seduce/Independent ³-------------------------------------- ¹Yup this is the follow up to the "Hardcore for the masses vol 1" (phew!). The Cover of this album is maybe the most ugliest and most anti-macho I have ever seen , but I promise .. The COVER is cool hehehe ! Well this album are supposed to be a colletion with the very latest from the swedish straight edge'n punk scene. The album concists of 24 different groups and the totally playtime is about 63 minutes long , and it's even said that some "unreleased" songs should be included !! Well that sounds nice ehh ?! But I suggest you read trought this article first of all .. yup , I will now try to review every single group and their contribution to this album , with a bit help from the record texts ofcourse .. ¾(1)² RANDY - THE WAR ON A LAYER OF MY TOOTH The album starts with some dude which doing some nice sounds after have to booze or something like that. ehh Humm This bands sounds to be a quite normal skatepunkband , Well I really have heard better skatepunk than this .. But this band is not bad at all , they are 100% ok .. I think they have released one cd , and one more is soon ¶¹commin' soon .. this song is much about the meaning of the life and thoughts about why everybody is so damn self-centred .. yup , think about it ! over to the next song : ¾(2)² MARY BEATS JANE - COCA COLA REPORT Believe it or not , but this band used to be more grunge/black flag influenced before , but now they have change style a bit and a now new album is going to be released. Well , I don't really think I like this song that much , It's too much screamin and it's sounds to much trash. Anyway they have some cool lines in this songs like : "I prefer 15-years old tits and acid queens" and "I've got my television , that's my religon!" ¾(3)² ASHRAM - MOOD This band is a bit more melodic , they have one debut EP out called "Fractional", too sad it's still unnoticed. A new record may be on it's way .. This song is about average it's nothing special , but not bad. The song is about lonelinness I think , or maybe bad mood ? ¾(4)² DIA PSALMA - WE LOVE YOU I guess most of the swedish guys out there most have heard Dia Psalma some time , or Strebers their name of the past. They changed their name when their drummer died in a carcrash. Well , this song is a pure translation from a swedish one .. I like them ¶¹better in swedish , but this music is honest punkrock with some swedish folkmusic influenses. The song is much about the meaning of the life , and that you almost always care of a person , when he's dead. You would'nt care of him when he was alive , but now when his is dead , you think about him even more ! "YOU KNOW THAT WE ALL LOVE YOU - WHEN YOU ARE DEAD" Sob.. Over to the next ! ¾(5)² NO FUN AT ALL - GROWING OLD , GROWING COLD This band is quite wellknown in Sweden , and has often been compared to BAD RELIGION , but I think this is faster and more aggressive. I think this song are really good , sad I haven'nt heard so much more from them. This group have been extremly well received by foreign magazines. I also think they now have released their album " No straight angels". ¾(6)² UNCURBED - NO RESPECT Hehe what should I say about this ? I guess this group don't have respect for anyone, as they blaime the the govenment for being a bunch of fucking nazis. The text is very short , and concists very much of the words "fight back" Well , ofcourse we shall fight back , but not by "kickin their fucking necks" , this reminds my very much of death metal , and that's saying a lot . .. I don't like it .. ¾(7)² FIRESIDE - THROWSTAR ¶¹I guess Fireside is a quite unknown group , It's quite heavy and a bit emotional , the text seams to be in ordinary punk style and the music is allright. They have 2 cd singels and a cd out right now, not much more to say .. ¾(8)² UNION - VERBAL BULLETS This is really fast , the texts is about thoughts of the useless wars in the world , the basist Patrik of "Really fast records fame" features this track. I think this band is a little above average , but not this best I have heard. I like the message more than the music. ¾(9)² TEDDYBEARS - BLOCKHEAD Teddybears are popular in Sweden , they have a cd out called "You are... Teddybears" , and it's have received very nice critism from some of the swedish papers. Some people thinks that Teddybears have a cool attitude, but I don't know.. not bad but my favorite band if you know what I mean! ¾(10²) DLK - HAZE DLK stands for "De Lyckliga Kompisarna" in swedish , it's like "The Happy Mates" in english. Well, DLK make usually all their music with swedish texts, actually I have 2 album and one single by them, and I really like them. DLK is pure swedish punk with a little bit pop insperation. When I Heard "Haze" I almost immediately recoqnized their style. ¶¹But it's not quite the same as in swedish !! I Suggest The Happy Mates to keep their composing on swedish, becourse they are damn good at it. They also have some big hits which are really cool. Anyway , "Haze" is not bad , hell no.. but as I said.. they should be heard on swedish, by swedish people !! Hope I'm not making some dudes out there angry ! The vocalist Martin Hällgren, had also his own soloproject before DLK, a group called Total Egon that has done a few records. ¾(11)² TRIBULATION - WORSHIP THE HOLE It's a bit hard too write about this band , becourse I nearly know nothing about them! Tribulation seems to be a bit odd group. They were featuring on "Hardcore for the masses 1" but they have change their style a bit. Worship the whole is ordinay punk song , and I also found the text quite good. ¾(12)² POTLATCH - GIRLBURN Raw Hardcore/Metal mixed with a funny attitude , I think Potlatch is some kind of skatepunk band. The Vocalist sounds like a reagge singer which is really cool. He even look like one and that's even kewler! I like reagge (sometimes) They also screamin' Hardcore in the refr. (Kewl) The text is about love , love and Humm .. Yep I suposse the reaggecore is born .. I have to listen to this song a bit more in the future .. H A R D C O R E ¶¾(13)² STUKAS - SCARY Stukas have realesed one debut album called "The world according to". The band has also some singles out. This is good, not to much noice you and can hear what the vocalists singing about without looking in the texts. The text is about some very awful monsters under your bed , Lonely nights are scary .. Okey, this is not maybe so very serious , but what the hell ? I think there is some undermeaning behind this .. maybe that lonely nights are mastrubating nights ? ¾(14)² REFUSED - THE REAL It's heavy , It's angry and it's STRAIGHT EDGE ... Let me quote some lines from the text " If you want to change the society, don't buy their lies. " " Fuck intoxication, fuck their stereotype values. " " If you are against oppression and for equality, then " " stop smoking those cigarettes, stop supporting their " " multinational lies. If you are against vivisection, " " go fucking veteterian & don't wear those fucking " " Dr.Martens and that leatherjacket. ¶¹Struggle for real " " change instead of just follow the mindless masses. " " We are all quilty and I hate to point fingers , but " " you are either a part of the solution or a part of " " the problem! " Refused is maybe the leading band of the swedish straight edge scene right now , I like this kind of music .. It's like a new punkstyle .. I have not listen to their album yet, but I think will someday.. "We are still waiting for the real revolution" ¾(15)² HUX FLUX - AIN'T IT FUNNY ? This is a bit exemperimental and odd but I found this song quite Ok, too bad that the cd is a bit fucked up in some places in the song. It's some "hacks" in the middle of the track which is very irritating. Hux flux are also blaimed for being a bit pshychedelic, but I don't know .. It's not fun to listen to it, becourse of the errors of the cd. Nope .. It's not funny! ¾(16)² SOBER - SICK'N'TIRED This a fast, heavy and very short song, in fact 52 seconds! I have listen to it a couple of times , and it's not bad not at all. The groups ¶¹has strong vocals, and they also have a album out called "First step". The band was earlier called Strobe. ¾(17)² BREACH - POTENTIAL FAILURE This seems to be some kind of punktrash or "metallic hardcore". Well not so much to say about this , it's pretty good. But I have heard this type of music too much. There is some good lines in the refr. : "Shame , nothing seems to be the same" "Shame , nothing seems to be the way it should" ¾(18)² PRE HISTORIC - I FOUND JESUS I found Jesus .. And cracked his head and fucked his brain .. hehe yep and he's laying there with his ass in the air .. Humm Nope this is not a satanic blackmetal band .. just a punk band with a funny song .. Pre Historic have splitted a cd with another group called Allena, and so far that's their only claim to fame. ¾(19)² SATANIC SURFERS - SATANIC SURFERS This a Surf/Skatepunk band from the swedish southcoast. They have CDS Single called "Skate to hell".. The text is a bit lame , like "666 is the number of my butt" I guess this is some kind of parodi of the black flaged music .. The song is ok , but the text is lame. ¾(20)² 59 TIMES THE PAIN - FEELING DOWN "Stomping Catchy Hardcore" with a ¶¹aggressive punk attitude. I think they have a CDS out called "Blind Anger & Hate". Felling down is not bad at all, but maybe too much "stomping", beside this I like this song. ¾(21)² RADIOAKTIVA RÄKER - BETONGROSOR This is the only song of the album with Swedish text , I don't know why Burning Heart Records included it. Well , I don't call this type of punk hardcore it's more like "sing a long punk" (Trallpunk in swedish) I listen to a lot of the kind of music , and it's very good. The Band have released a MiniCd called Labyrint (Maze). ¾(22)² MILLENCOLIN - DISNEYTIME I love Millencolin. I think they are the best skatepunk in sweden for the moment. I also think this song is one is the best of this album. They band Have released One CD and 2 Cd singels. I got one of the singles called "SKAUCH" and it's really cool. They have a really fast drummer , the texts are good and also the vocals. Good luck to this band in the future ! ¾(23)² LIZA G HEAD - CHILL OUT IN HELL Heavy metallic hardcore from the south parts of sweden. I guess their big fans are Pantera etc. This is really good.. Agressive and not to simple. Their debut album "Give the Iron" should by out by now. ¶¾(24)² CHARTA 77 - SILENCE IS GOLDEN One of my favorite punkband, they have 7 Albums out and I have 2 of them. They write texts on both english and swedish. "Silence is golden" is a translation from a swedish song. This english version is even better than the orginal one. The vocalist also runs Birdnest records which distrubutes punkmusic. Well, I Suggest everyone who like Trash, Punk and anykind of hardcore of this type to atleast sit down and listen to this album ! Some of the songs are pure crap but most of them are really good. If you live outside sweden there might be some trouble to buy it. I don't think the album is available in your local recordstore !!
