²A  youth  of 16 is to face prosecution
in  Britain  after he allegedly HACKED
into   highly  sensitive  US  Military
Computers.

The  North  London youth is alleged to
have  used  a  "Sniffer  Programme" to
browse  through Pentagon Secrets for 6
months  without detection until he was
finally   traced  by  British  Telecom
Fraud Detection Office.

He  witnessed  secret  US North Korean
Communications and obtained details of
weapons research, it is claimed.

Scotland  Yard  has confirmed that the
youth  was arrested in July and that a
report  had  been  sent  to  the Crown
Prosecution Service.

A  BT  spokesman  said "We are working
with  Scotland  Yard  and the American
phone  companies such as AT&T / SPRINT
and MCI because we have been aware for
some  time  that  Computer  users  are
using  the  BT  Network  in  order  to
obtain  free  calls to other Countries
by  HACKING  and  the  use  of  stolen
American   Telephone   Account  Cards.
Obtaining    free   calls   to   other
Countries  such  as  mainly  the  USA,
miss-use  of  0800  free phone numbers
and  the  computer Pirate Hackers will
be  heavily  fined when caught, We are
¶also  aware  of  Computer Piracy which
involves  pirates  and Hackers storing
Hacked   Computer  Games  on  Bulletin
Boards Systems throughout the UK".

A student of 20 years old from the N.E
of  England  has  allegedly been using
and selling American Telephone Account
Cards  known  as  "Calling  Cards"  by
Pirate  Computer  Users  and allegedly
using  0800 free phone numbers to call
anywhere  in  the  world  using PuBlic
EXange  numbers..   and allegedly from
1992  made unpaid calls estimated over
10,000 US Dollars.

The  youth who also allegedly used his
own  BBS  (Bulletin  Board System) and
the  Internet Computer System to store
and distribute pirated games software.
He   was  given  conditional  bail  of
£2,000 on condition he does not use or
own  a Home Computer and has not enter
the  campus grounds during the holiday
period  and  he  also had to surrender
his  Norwiegen  Passport and report to
the  local  Police  Station  until the
middle  of  January 1995 where upon he
will   have  to  re-visit  the  County
Court.

¾BT PHONE RENTAL CHARGES

²BT  is  to announce its increasing the
rental charges for phone lines by 4.6%
from the 1st of Febuary 1995.

A residential line will go up by £1.10
a  quarter  (£24.79)  A buisiness Line
will go up by £1.77 a quarter (£40.15)

BT  will also announce soon that it is
¶to reduce the cost of calling the US &
Canada by about 20% (£1.40 for a 3 min
call)

BT  are cutting costs for US & Canada,
because  the  British  Government have
given   the  go  ahead  to  USA  phone
companies   to   go  into  competition
against  BT and Mercury for the market
of overseas customers.

The  American  Phone Giant AT&T are to
announce  sometime  in  the  next  few
weeks  the  opening  of  their offices
throughout   Britain  Creating  approx
3,000 new jobs.
