DESTROYING PD çddf,faa,afa,aaf,faf,ffa,aff ¾The Scene - Destroying the PD idea! ²----------------------------------- ¹In recent scene productions there have almost without exception been a text phrase telling: "This production may not be sold through any PD company. If you want to sell this than contact the authors first". Most of you probably find this perfectly OK, but I think it is really like destroying the idea of Public Domain. Public Domain companies aim are MOSTLY not to make big money, they are just VERY interested in spreading the stuff to other people. Most scene guys seem to hate PD Companies, see them as a industry making BIIG money out of their work. Ofcourse there must be impossible to become rich out of selling PD disks (If you are expensive noone would buy anyway.). PD Companies are doing the scene a favour by spreading productions to people who mostly haven't seen a demo or a intro before. Saying that PD Companies need a special agreement to sell their work is not too clever. What PD Company have the time to send hundreds of letters asking for permission? Instead of making this, why don't you sell the sourcecode, the music and the graphics? If it is money you want I bet this is the best way to get it. There are thousands of freaks out there who want to learn Assembler coding. Maybe some people finds this lame too. Ofcourse there is a risk in getting lame "second" releases of the demo if the source is spreaden. But who the fuck cares when everybody knows who the real author is? So, my suggestion is: Let PD companies freely distribute all productions! They won't make any fortune out of it ¶anyway. Ofcourse there are LAME Pd Companies that must be stopped! The best solution would be if a scene guy opened a SCENE LIBRARY which had the right to distribute ONLY scene releses...
