²½ Intro Reviews ¹¼ Intros from The Gathering'94 - ³"Bjarne" by Stone Arts¹ The first production from the newly stoned guys in STA. The intro starts off with a "Bjarne" logo by the STA-coder Coke, who coded "Rush" for the 40k-competition at TG94. After dabbling with this picture a bit two waving Stone Arts logos fades in and we're presented with a textscreen. Then ²the coder of this production whose name we won't mention (42 don't give publicity to rascists!)¹ talks about the first effect which is a dotflag consisting of quite-a-lot-of dots. Up next is a dotcube (the number of dots is actually one quarter of what the coder says because a method of bitplane shifting has been used). The dotcube which is very well coded zooms out and we've feeded with some more text before this intro's highlight comes up: after the usual intro-precalculation waiting (or maybe, in this case, copperlist waiting) a VERY SMOOTH bitmaprotation starts off. This looked just amazing on the big screen at the party. ² The chiptune is just brilliant!¹ Excellent, Braintumour & Heywood! The graphics in this intro consists of one logo and a font which is average but it's not bad either. A good job by Coke, that means. A deserved victory, Stone Arts! Score: (9/10) - ³"Funky Pixels" by Spaceballs¹ Lone Starr strikes back. This time in cooperation with Vinnie. The first "effect" is a precalculated fratcal landscape which struck many at the Gathering wich the thought ²"wow!"¹ This is very impressive, and don't think that it's crap because it's precalculated. It takes A LOT of coding skills to precalculate this so Lone Starr is a good coder, no doubt. The second effect is a fullscreen rubbervector which does not look very good with the chosen colours, especially on a monitor. Still a nice effect but be more careful when selecting colour Lone Starr. And you know what he say: "I love these RGB colours" I knew he was special, but not this special. Maybe he's got a SMALL knack for Warhol-art? Graphics: none. Music by vinnie: Amazing. This module does not sound like a chiptune. Very good Spaceballs! Score: (7/10) - ³"Rush" by Stone Arts¹ The only intro using the "textscreens and silly effects takes time"-trick often seen in 40k-intros. This second intro by contains some plasma-effects, the compulsory bitmaprotation and a cool textwriter to mention some effects. The code is done by Coke, music by Redferne and the last effect in the intro is by Ranx (which now has left for Balance(?)). An OK intro which was among the five best. My personal feeling is that it wasn't the third best but, of course, my taste is different to many others and there was a very democratic vote-system at TG94 so all honor to Coke & Company for grabbing the third spot in the competition. Some things worth mentioning about "Rush" is the use of inconvex rubber-vector which looked stupendously nice ona big screen and the use of the bitmaprotation which looked awful on a monitor. Score: 6/10 ~
