²¢ >> Continued from last page << ¹¼ ³ Mind Riot ¹ Firstly planned released at the infamous Hurricane-party but not released before a half-year after that, Mind Riot hit the charts when releases where in vacuum after The Party 2. Dr.Jekylls demo did bring Andromeda back into the international top. While depacking the first parts a victorian-style picture by Fairfax is shown. This picture shows off Fairfax' skills as an artist. With A countdown-like intro and some nice logos, of which one in interlace flicker enormously, the demo start of with its effects. First off is a 32colour lightsourced transparent vectorobject. Then, following the vector is some realtime calculated circles which Dr. Jekyll is very proud of since he uses the scrolltext to brag about them. These circlecalculations are also used in the intro. Other noteable effects are the tunnelbox (also seen in Mirror) and a beutiful lightsourced wave-effect. There are two impressions the viewer will sit back with after having watched this demo. One of them is that Duel must have had some huge surplus of unused logos lying around. All of them well drawn and nice to look at. The other is the memory of all those scrollers following every part of Mind Riot. The music by Mr.Man is timed very good to the intro but varies a bit in quality from part to part, but of course, this is not lowquality. Graphics: Logos, logos, logos. In addition: some fonts and the depackingpicture. International elite quality! ²¾4------------------------------------5 / ¼ In a galaxy far, far away... ¾ / 1------------------------------------2 ³¼ Surrealism ¹ This production from Andromeda consists only of one routine and some design mish-mash. Surrealism starts off with the good, old Andromeda-sign zooming out from the screen and disappearing. Then a small, but quite good picture fades in. When fading out the artpiece turns into a swarm of squares, of which some are pulsating. This swarm flies up to the top left corner of the screen and the show starts. Part for part a vectorcube consisting of different types of vectorgraphics fades in. The top of the cube is made up of dots, the next part is snowmapped and the third part is in glass-mode. Following this is a chesspart, a line-part and finally a normal blue filled part. All the filled parts have lightsourced colours. This astounding routine was supposed to be a part of Mr.Hyde and Dr.Jekyll's new demo but they thought it wouldn't suit the design... :-) The music by Interphace fits the intro very nice and is quite relaxing to listen to. ³ Sequential ¹ Having been under production for about 2 years, Sequential was finally released at The Gathering 1994. It was earlier given the name "Q.E.D." but this was changed due to the fact that Talent released a demo with that very name at The Gathering 1993. Then, after TG93 HeadX planned to release it at Rendesvouz'93 but it wasn't finished before the deadline. HeadX has coded this demo and it's his first demo for Andromeda even though he has been in the group for a long time. The demo starts off with the best part of the demo. Letters resembling an "Andromeda" logo falls down and shivers as jelly. This is the most impressive part of the demo for non-coders. HeadX follows up this with a rollercoaster with loops and curves, a nice "mirror"-effect inside a cube and an inconvex magnet-vector with balls being attracted to the magnet. The graphics are astounding as always in Andromeda releases. Fairfax and Quest has drawn the graphics and done an impressive job. The soundtracks is very varied and of course of good quality. The best part of the music is the end theme which can melt anyone. The design is generally good but lacks the little bit Andromeda demos like "Mind riot" and "D.O.S." has got. But, I guess HeadX has his own ways of designing "Sequential" really deserved to win The Gathering'94 and by that he broke a limit: "Sequential" was Andromeda's first major victory. All the 1st prizes at big parties like The Gathering or The Party have gone to other groups but now it was Andromeda's turn. ² This concludes 42s Andromeda feature and we hope you've enjoyed it. If you feel that your group is worthy the same treatment please contact the 42 staff as soon as possible.
