TITLE : BODY BLOWS GALACTIC (A1200) TYPE : BEAT "EM UP REVIEWED : SPIRIT DATE : 8 FEB 1994 So here it is, another beat-em-up on the Amiga games format. Is Body Blows Galactic better than it's predecessor, well in some respects yes, and in some no. The thing that sets Body Blows Galactic and the original Body Blows is the characters. In BB Galactic there are a number of characters for you to choose from such as a robot called Tekno, A strange alien-type-thing called Puppet plus Dan and Junior from the first game are there. There are in total 12 characters in which you can choose from and you can also choose where you`d like to fight i.e. Earth, Titanica, Eclipse etc. Each character has their own moves and special moves which are operated by using the joystick. One of Tekno`s special moves is he flies into the air and shoots his opponents with his rocket launchers!!!. Also he can fire out a claw from his head which causes an opponent damage. Each character has his or her own special moves which can be adapted through the game. There are quite a few characters to choose from and there is also 6 planets on which to fight. Graphically there is very little difference from the original, i.e. cartoony type graphics. I feel B. Blows Galactic scores higher because of the strange type of characters you can pick. It is also a little humerous in places such as when Dino (a man mounted on a dinosaurs back) gets hit the man falls off and shakes his head, or when the pair win a match the dinosaur stomps his feet and smiles!!. Each time a player wins a bout the player shouts out a catchphrase, such as Tekno, when he wins he shouts out to his opponent "get out of my sight!" in a robot-type voice. In Body Blows Galactic you can either fight as one player going through each planet disposing of each character as you go through or you can fight in a tournament (with either 1 or 2 players) in which you have to beat all the characters be them computer controlled or by a second player, which can be quite fun. The third and final option is two player where Body Blows Galactic is at it`s best. There`s nothing like kicking in a second player and then simulating the voice the computer says yourself!!!. It really is annoying when you get beat by Tekno and you mate says to you "get out of my sight!!!". Soundwise Body Blows Galactic is quite good but there is no denying that the loading system is slow and tedious so points off for that. Also the game is highly unoriginal so some more points off for that. The graphics serve their purpose and it`s more fun than Body Blows some there is some points to be added for that. Although the AGA graphics are not anything to get excited about, Body Blows Galactic is a good game and if it was released before Street Fighter II it would definitely have scored higher. But as it is Body Blows Galactic is just another beat-em-up, even if it is better than most. Summary Body Blows Galactic certainly won`t score any points for originality but if you enjoyed the original game, you will surely enjoy this. Now "GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!!!!"
