BRUTAL DEMO-RIPPING (Dr.Avalanche/Ind.) It was June, 26th 1994 when I switched on MTV while "120 Minutes" was televised. And I was very surprised what I saw there ... it was the Vectortunnel from "Lethal Exit" by Digital!!! First I thought positive and I thought of a special about the computer-scene or computergenerated music/effects. But it wasn`t!!! Then I got sick ... very sick!!! What I`ve seen there was a video called "Gulf Brease" from the group "Eat Static". I was really shocked because of the brutal ripping, which couldn`t be overseen by a scener. 90 per cent of this music-video existed only of famous demo-effects. Some effects I can remember are, as I said before, the Vectortunnel from Lethal Exit (Digital), the RGB Sphere from Guardian Dragon II (Kefrens), the Vectortunnel from Sanity (Jesterday, WoC`92) and many effects from State of the art by Spaceballs and many, many other demo effects from some by me unknown demos. Sometimes these effects were genlocked with the musicians. I couldn`t believe that the producers of this video asked the REAL producers of the effects if they are allowed to RIP them for the video. If no special permission exists, they have just STOLEN the effects and that`s illegal. A demo has also like other products a kind of copyright. It is punishable to break a copyright. The mainreason why I`m angry about this is that the producers had nearly no expenses to make this music-video. They`ve just rested on the work of others. I would like to know what YOU think about this, so please take a pen and a paper, write down your opinion and send it to: 5 Dr.Avalanche Rene Kueppers Am Kammerbusch 38 41812 Erkelenz Germany 4 **** Don`t think this would be a bad joke, it`s pure reality **** 3 At least a big sorry if this short article isn`t written as good as others, but this is my first mag-article I made.
