A few months ago I purchased a copy of the program "Messydos" by Olaf Seibert. With this I hoped to be able to transfer some of my synthesizer voices to the Amiga for cataloguing. (Two of my synths use IBM format disks !) However when I mounted the Messy file system my Amiga couldn't read some of the disks from my Sampler and sometimes it would print the directory and then crash !! This was a real pain as the program would be very useful, so I decided to write to the author who turned out to be very helpful. The version of Messydos I was using at the time was v1.3 and as you can see from the letter he returned that this version is the last in the Public Domain. As he will be releasing it as a full commercial product. All you have to do is to copy "Messyfilesystem" into your L: directory, "Messydisk.device" into your DEVS: directory and append the example mountlist to your orginal mountlist. Once you have done this you should be able to mount MS0: and MS1: !! I have been using the program trouble free for the last 3-4 months transferring sounds and sequences back and forth between my synths and the Amiga. You might even be able to load Atari midi files into your Amiga sequencer although I haven't tried this. I can however load SY99 midi file songs into Bars&pipes using it !!!! I hope this is of use to someone as it's been very helpful to me. Jason (helios, Surrey)
