HERE is my contribution to the PPage and PDraw user who also owns a HP DeskJet Plus or HP LaserJet compatible printer. It is a replacement for the standard HP_LaserJet driver shipped with Workbench. This driver has many benefits for DTP use. It is twice as fast under the same load. It has its own halftoner, therefore no false lines due to halftoning out of sync across rendered bands. It accounts for the white margin of the printer, meaning print is as accurate as from a PostScript printer. It uses Preferences page length setting to determine how long a page image is. This means you can print documents longer than 10 inches. It uses the compressed raster mode of the DeskJet Plus so is four times as fast the normal routine. Plus more :-) There are a few drawbacks, however. For a start, it renders halftones into the callers bitmap! Prepare for fireworks if you dare to use it with DPaint III and so on. And it will only render four-bitplane bitmaps. It may not work as you want right away :-) This driver is, of course, totally PD, which implies that there is no warranty as to the function on your system. Use at your own risk! It has been tested on an A1000 and an A3000. Svante Gellerstam svante@kberg.se d87sg@efd.lth.se
