91Oh  god,  not another story about that
one!!!   Yes  it  is...   I wrote this
when  I  just  had heard a song of the
dutch  band  d'Het  goede  doel' 9I hope
it's entertaining!

There  are guys who spend 18 hrs a day
sitting  in  front  of their Amiga(tm)
the  remaining  6  hours  they  use to
sleep   to   eat  and  to  go  to  the
toilet...

It's  csad  but  true9!   These  guys do
exist,   they   call   their  contacts
friends but they don't know more about
them than :

'Yo it's xxx/xxx here...  thanx 4 your
stuff  here  mine send fast back bye!'
eWOW!!!9..   what a friendship!  I don't
have  150  contax or so..  but I think
that  I can say that I know some about
my  contacts,  my  pieces of paper are
filled  (standard  a4 format), most on
front-side but sometimes both sides

- I  hate  emptieness... I  tell  them
what's  all up and they tell what's up
with them to me...

Real  friends  are  those you can rely
on,  those  who don't turn their backs
on you, when you're having troubles or
who  try  to  cheer you up when you're
feeling   down...    that's  the  true
meaning of friendship...

There's this song called 'Vriendschap'
this  means  friendship in dutch...  I
quote  this  little piece of the text,
because  I  think that it fitts to the
scene:

'Een keer trek je de conclusie,
 vriendschap is een illusie
 vriendschap is een droom,
 een pakketje
 schroot met een dun laagje chroom'

which  means:   You  will come to this
conclusion, friendship is an illusion,
friendship is a dream, a piece of junk
with  thin coating of chrome...  Think
about that one!!!

But  enough depressing things...  When
you  think  that the scene is built on
friendship,  You  are  right!  But not
the   friendship   mentioned   in  the
beginning,    but    this    kind   of
friendship,  in  which  ,the stuff you
receive  is  not THE thing you look at
to  say if someone is a cool contact..
Ofcourse,  I  admit it has  influence,
ofcourse  it  does, that's the  reason
it  started,  in the first 2-4 letters
you  get  to know if someone is a good
swapper,  but I often get to hear that
same  old  song  'Hi  send  fast back,
bye...'

Even  when it is great hot stuff, even
then  I'll  kindly  return  his  disk,
whith  the  message that I'm very busy
and  that  I  don't  have got time for
him.    (For  a  real  friend  there's
always time)

Looking  in  the  standard pack-menu's
there's  allways a greetings scroll...
eaaaarrrggghhh!    9In   a   demo   it's
understandable   that   there  are  no
messages  to those they greet,and in a
pack  you  can  put  this  list, but I
think   that  it  isn't  very  nice...
That's  why  my  favourite pack is the
'Wacky-pack'  by  Daze  of  Desire  (a
personal  friend) He sends messages to
a lot of people in his packs, he tells
things  in it, We once made a pack, in
which  was a scroller with a text that
lasted  11  mins.  to read...  that is
fun...   and you give the pack another
dimension, the selector itself becomes
as   interesting   as  the  dentro  it
loads!!!

Some  people  think differently, o.k.!
That's  not  my  buisness, That's just
the  fun!   What  would the world look
like  if  everyone  thought  the same?
Sad and boring!

But now, I'm going to leave you..  I'm
going  to  have  a  drink  in my local
disco to meet my friends...  Hope this
wasn't too boring.×
