|1-ThE PrOdIgY Followed By Tetsuĝ/Ultima The Prodigy is consists of Liam Howlett, Keith Flint, Ketti Palmer and Leeroy Thornhill. Liam is the main man music wise, previously a DJ for an Essex Hip Hop band called `Cut To Kill', turned raver. Keith, an ex-casual turned hippy world traveller. Keeti, other wise known as MC Maxim Reality, a rare groove and soul fan. And Leeroy; a raver and good mate. The Prodigy started out with Liam, Leeroy and Keith, with their female freind Sharky, playing live PA's at raves. One day Sharky gave up and so Keet was drafted in by The Prodigys first manager; Ziggy. In February 1991, the "WHAT EVIL LURKS" EP was released through XL Recordings, which sold well enough to get the band a 4 single contract. Only a few thousand copies of this were ever pressed and so it is now a real collectors item. Then "CHARLEY" hit the world and brought English rave to everyones attention overnight. The tune, a simple collection of bass riffs, beats, and a sample from a childrens road saftey advert. To say the tune did well would be an understatement, it went to number 3 in the singles chart and stayed in the top 10 for weeks. It was later released into the USA, with Joey Beltram Remix, but despite this it didn't do so well. "EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE", another wicked tune. And kept from the number one spot by a re-release of the "Bohemian Rhapsody". Towards the end of '92 came "FIRE" and "OUT OF SPACE", the later being a real classic, taking your brain into another dimension! And then, the classic album, "EXPERIENCE" way ahead of everything else, and included some stompin' tracks. About a year after "CHARLEY", a Mixmag article claimed that the track had killed rave, which led to their reputation taking a bit of a dive. The Prodigy fought back, releasing "ONE LOVE" as a white lable credited to Earthbound. The music press loved it, and The Prodigy's critics soon ate thier own words when they found who the track was really by. No one imagined that they could get better, but they did! In May 94 "NO GOOD (START THE DANCE)" was released, arguably the best track ever! Hot on the heals of "NO GOOD's" success was the album "MUSIC FOR THE JILTED GENERATION", a work of art. It had everything, from Harcore Techno, to Rock, to Hip Hop. Laim is `a jack of all trades'. The first single from the album. was "VOODOO PEOPLE" a brilliant fusing of rock and techno, with a live flute. And, the last single released to date was "POISON". An excellent hip-hop style track. The single did quite well in the charts, although the edit version; with speeded up breakbeat which sounded less elegant and basically didn't really do the original justice. But despite this, it still managed a respectable chart position. The recent Tribal Gathering wasn't exactly a raging success for The Prodigy. In an interview before they went on stage, Liam said; that he can't just stick to one formula and just has to keep moving on. He also promised "A New album and new direction for The Prodigy!" And this is where we finish the story for now, with exiting new sounds on the horizon, and best of all, another tour! |1-You're No Goodforme Idontneednobody |1-Don't Need No One That's No Goodforme
