The radio- stations do not support these styles of music, unless they're in the top 10. But to be honest, REAL hardcore, house or whatever never reaches the top 10. (Fortunately NOT !!!!). Most top ten groups are commercial only, and everybo dy knows them. I'm talking about NKOTB, Vanillia Ice etc, for the house part 2 Unlimited, LA Style... Anyway, that's not the part that I want to discuss now (perhaps another time). In America (What time is love) hardcore is respected. Who doesn't know Public Enemy, NWA, Ice-T, etc.... In Holland, there are a lot of groups dealing with @^ hardcore, but they are not respected, except perhaps by their (small) group of fans. Names are: Osdorp Posse, Mc- Sranang, 2-Tuff-E-Nuff... Some of them are special, the Osdorp Posse for exam- ple raps in Dutch only ("it all started when someone said that rapping in Dutch would really sound awful"), which does sound quite cool, expecially because the lyrics are copied directly from A- merican raps... Dutch lamers like the EB (Evangelist Broadcasters) were quite pissed off when they first heard these songs and even tried to boycot them... Good method to draw attention towards you, that's for sure. And Mc Sranang does most of his lyrics in Surinamese. Most of the lyrics of these groups @# @t4,06 @^@f00@t5resemble their American counterparts, as said before. This means that they deal with racism or violence, like gangwars, the drugs-scene, the Amigascene (sorry) etc... But the problem of not being a- ble to find a job, racism or drugs is not so big as in America. Holland is sometimes even mentioned as a country with a good altitude towards drugs, in comparisson to our neighbours France, Belgium and Germany the racism is also nothing... This doesn't stop the groups from writing about it in the songtexts, of course... The groups are sometimes said to make violence grow, instead of diminishing it. All of the rappers have an answer to this 'cliche': In films, in books, you name it, there's always someone who gets killed. But when hardcore-groups rap about it, the whole world judges it to be wrong. @^There are two parts remaining. One part contains the groups that do not rap a- bout social life, violence etc... but only about themselves. A little bit li ke in the house-scene, really ("I'm the one and only dominator"). The other part is the group of people connected to the so-called "Movement AF RICA", that tries to teach the poeple more rspect for life in Africa. "Africa is the start of our culture", they say. Not so long ago there have even been plans to bring the negro's back to Afri ca. Too bad Africa is poor to be able to accept these people (although the ne gro's wouldn't fit there anyway with their different attitudes towards life) And that's our hardcore-scene.
