the amiga a500A


theCamiga 500Ais not an open system,like
the a2000,but a closed one. this means
simply you can not connect more than one
internal discdrives or harddiscs,nor can
you insert expansion cards like the
68020 turbo or higher. the only thing
that is expandable in the computer is
the 512k memory expansion,with or
without clock. recently,new models were
developped which allow you to insert 1.8
megabytes in this particular slot,or the
worldfamous powercard (a pc^emulator,for
test see last issue). when you are using
the amiga professionally,you probably
won't use the a500. the makers of this
model say it's for gamesplaying only
and a little bit of serious programming.
we freaks know better,ofcourse.

the amiga a1000A


was the first model of the amigafamily,
introduced 5 years ago. what to say
about this one? everybody knows it,with
it's 256 kilobytes of ram (hehe). all
the freaks laugh when a user appears to
have an a1000 (not insulting anyone,
i hope).

the amiga a2000

the makers decided to introduce a more
serious model of the a500,just because
they were losing the battle against the
getting^cheaper^with^the^day pc's.
it's just the a500's big brother,with
open system architecture,ability to
insert more internal drives or
harddrives and ability to expand the
system with either turboboards or the
famous pc boards. (at/xt cards).
only problems are: the red power led
can not be turned off anymore and the
memory is 1meg full,so you can not
turn off half of the 1meg (like the
a500's fastmem and chipmem).

the amiga a2500A


the professional a2000. it has got
3mb of ram,a 40mb harddisc,a 68020
turbo card,unix compatible and stating
'a2500' on the front. it runs at 14.3
mhz (2 times the speed of an a500) but
it's quite expensive.

the best model up till now,with the
fast 68030 accelerator^card,32 bits
chip set,1 mb of memory,2 mb fast
memory,4096 ham 1280*512,a cool
multisync monitor,the new kickstart 2.0
and workbench 2.0 . the system is
running at 25 mhz (!!!) and it's the
computer everybody dreams of.

a new unofficial version in the amiga
family,it's not known for sure what the
differnces between this model and the
a3000 are.

the amiga laptopA


was supposed to be released at the amiga
'90 in koeln.it is not made by commodore
themselves and was not released,nobody
knows why.

loads of rumours about this one,most of
which are not true. some persons at
commodore told us that there is no
official version yet and that the
pictures you might have seen in other
computer (paper) mags are only
previews.

the baby^amigaA


an amiga console,with internal 3.5 drive
and cd^rom player (optional). it should
have no keyboard at all,it was never
released at all (although people say
it is in fact the cdtv's little sister).
